William (Bill) Stewart of Souris, formerly of Mohall died in the Minot hospital Sunday, August 29, 2021.         His funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at 10:00 am at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau. Burial will be at the Mountain View Cemetery near Souris.

Bill was born February 17,1933 near Sherwood to R. Hayes and Augusta (Schulte) Stewart. He was the last of 8 children. He began his education of Eden Valley School and graduated from Mohall High School in 1951. He served several years in the Army, stationed in Germany.  After his military service, he worked in construction. In the early 60's he worked for Boeing in Seattle and continued to live there after he married Avis Gimbel June 8, 1968.  They moved back to North Dakota, first to Mandan, Minot and then Ruthville. He was a tire salesman for many years and had the wonderful gift of gab. He loved running into people he knew so he could catch up with them. In 2000, they moved to Avis' childhood farmstead outside of Souris.

He is survived by his wife Avis; daughter, Lori; son Todd (Melissa); 2 grandchildren Mason and Ella;  brother Donald of Sherwood; sister-in-law Betty Stewart and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bill passed away on Sunday, August 29, 2021 at a Minot hospital.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Ada Hansen and Dorthy Bohm; brothers, Wayne, Vernon, Berl and Robert; sisters-in-law; Francis Stewart, Byrlie Stewart and Lyla Stewart and brothers-in-law, Donald Hanson and Dick Bohm.

Arrangements were with Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.   Friends may sign the online register book at www.nerofuneralhome.net .
