Warren Engstrom, a son of Vernie and Lena (Ledoux) Engstrom was born on October 6, 1943 in Bottineau. He was raised near Antler and graduated from Antler High School in 1961. On June 18, 1971, he married Sharon Cranston (They celebrated 50 years of marriage in June of 2021). They moved to the farm in 1974 where they raised 3 children Tamara Kay (Lakeville, MN), Travis Clifford (our heavenly angel) and Tyler Scott
(Westhope, ND)
At the age of 19, Warren began raising cattle and various crops throughout the years. He would check on calves during late hours of the night, through winter storms, and bottle fed calves in the house when necessary. He farmed through drought and extreme weather, always keeping faith and understanding what he could and couldn't control. He was a skilled builder and worked well with his hands. Warren taught hunter safety courses for over two decades. He dedicated his spare time serving his community, as an active member of the Antler School Board, Westhope School Board, Antler Township, Antler Co-Op Elevator and Antler Rural Fire Department. He always loved watching his kids and grandkids participate in sports during any season. He took great pride in his family and wasn't shy to tell them how proud he was.
Warren retired in 2008 turning over the family farm to his son, Tyler. He spent his retirement joyfully participating on the farm and discovering his new passion of the Antler Outlaw organizations, which was formed shortly after the Antler Centennial in 2005. He remained active by the Westhope Senior Citizens gaming committee. When meeting Warren he always had a story to tell and laughter to share. Warren's time was spent beating Sharon and Marie in their games of dice, enjoying his friends and family, and watching the wildlife pass through the yard.
Warren passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at a Minot hospital.
He was preceded in death son Travis, sister Donna Eide, brother in-law Ray Maley, and Scott Cranston and many other lifelong friends.
Warren is survived by his wife: Sharon; daughter Tami Halvorson, grandkids Levi and Hattie; son: Tyler (Lyndsi), grandkids Alvi and Ari and sister Marie Maley of Fargo.
