Obituary

Virgil Schroeder, age 52 of Dunseith, died Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at a Minot hospital.  His funeral will be on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at 10:00 am at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Dunseith.  Wake service will began on Monday at 7:00 pm at the Church.

Virgil Lee Schroeder was born on March 7, 1967 in Belcourt to William (Bill) and Janice (Gladue) Schroeder.  He was raised in the Dunseith area. He completed his education through the Belcourt area schools.  Virgil furthered his education in teaching at Minot State University.  Virgil was united in marriage to Lori Ann Fluher together they had 3 children; Virgil, Amberlee and Ashley.  This marriage later ended.  He also had three other children later; Devin, Jaelyn and Jasmine.  He loved his family dearly and he was proud of his children and grandchildren.  He worked at several schools including Belcourt, Ojibwa, Dunseith and UTTC until his illness.  He was also assistant basketball coach for Belcourt and Dunseith Schools.

Virgil's passion was hunting and fishing with his family and friends.  He loved goiing to the casino and watching the Vikings and the Twins play.  He loved watching basketball (Larry Bird was his man).  He also enjoyed dancing especially the jig.

Virgil passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on August 27, 2019 at the age of 52.  He will be forever remembered and dearly missed by his family.

He is survived by son, Virgil (Desiree) and Devin of St. John; daughters, Amberlee of Dunseith, Ashley (James) Lilley of Rugby and Jaelyn and Jasmine of Belcourt; grandchildren, William Lee, Celince Evelyn and Exzylen Joseph; mother Janice Schroeder of Dunseith; sister, Janelle (Jeff) Smith and Conway (Bobbie Lynn) Schroeder of Dunseith and many numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, William (Bill) Schroeder, brother Joseph W. Schroeder, niece, Joslyn Marie Smith; granddaughter, Amari Lynn Lilley and boy/girl Schroeder; paternal grandparents, Walter and Mary Schroeder, maternal grandparents, Frank (Small) and Evelyn Gladue and many aunts uncles and relative.

Arrangements were with Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.  Friends may sign the online register book at www.nerofuneralhome.net.
