Obituary

Violet O'Vila (Johnson) Seiffert, age 81, of Westhope, ND passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at a Bismarck hospital.  A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at 2:00 pm at the Westhope Cemetery.  There will be a time of lunch and fellowship held at Shawna's Place immediately following the service.  All are welcome.

Vi was born on November 19, 1943 in Bottineau, ND to Winfred and Olga (Opdahl) Johnson.  Vi was the 5th of 6 children.  As a young girl she attended Newburg Elementary and High School.  She met the love of her life, Donnie of 65 years at a dance in Maxbass in 1960.  They made their home for a brief time in Newburg and moved to their forever home in Westhope in the mid 60's.  Vi enjoyed playing basketball as a young girl, watching her children and grandchildren participate in sports, watching football on TV and found a passion playing card games with lifelong friends with pinochle quickly becoming her favorite.  Vi and Donnie spent many trips on the road and enjoyed camping with family and spending many 4th of July celebrations at the Seiffert farm.

Vi dedicated many hours working at the grocery store, Baumann's Jack and Jill in Westhope for almost 30 years and developed a great friendship with Terry and Jan Baumann and many of the customers.

Violet is survived by her husband, Donnie, Westhope; daughter, Jackie Bennett, Minot, ND; son, Todd (Lisa), Phoenix, AZ; and daughter Kelly (Stacy) Watson, Bakersfield, CA; grandchildren, Mitchel Benson and Nicholas Bennett, Drew Watson and Grant (Sarah) Watson, Andrea (Jamie) Kruse and Tyler (Sierra) Seiffert and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  Also survived by brothers-in-law, Jimmy, Mickey (Lorlan), Bobby (Carol), Stevie (Irene); sister-in-law Linda Johnson.  Sisters-in-law Connie, Janet and Janell, cousins and many friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents Winfred and Olga; brothers, Clarence (Frances), Glen (Dolly), Wayne (Lorraine) and Merton Johnson and sister, Judy (Dwight) Ballantyne; sister-in-law, Janice, brothers-in-law, Red, Curt and Wayne; father-in-law, Collin and mother-in-law, Luella.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the Westhope Cemetery.
