Toni J. Daniels, age 81 of Bottineau, died Friday, October 4, 2019 in a Bottineau nursing home. Her memorial service was held on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. in the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau. Officiating at the service was the Reverend Craig Jennings. Sharon Strand was the organist. Honorary bearers were all of her Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren, and the staff of Bottineau Good Samaritan Center.
Toni Daniels, a daughter of Franklin John and Marcella (Appel) Borth, was born on September 15, 1938 in Winona, Minnesota. It was here she was reared and attended school. Following her education, she was married to Verlin Higgins. They lived and worked in Minot, North Dakota for many years. This marriage later ended. She then moved to Tucson, Arizona were she worked as a secretary for an insurance company. She lived in the same apartment complex as her mother. Following the passing of her mother, she continued to live in the same apartment complex until ill health forced her to move to Bottineau to live near her son, Alan. She lived in the Mountain View Homes apartments for five years. With the development of Alzheimer's Disease, she moved into the Good Samaritan Center in Bottineau on January 10, 2011 and had resided there since. The transition was made easier for her by bringing her precious cat Abby to the nursing home.
Toni was a member of Grace Lutheran Church which she attended each and every Sunday that she was able to. Church and church family was always an important part of her life. When unable to attend Grace Lutheran she would attend church at the nursing home. She actually played piano for the church services at the Good Samaritan Center until her Alzheimer's prevented it.
Toni enjoyed watching golf and basketball on TV, playing games on her computer, and chatting to the world on the internet. After moving to the nursing home she enjoyed every activity that she could. She loved all of those that took such good care of her at Good Samaritan Center, many friendships were made. Her children and grandchildren were the delight and light of her life. She enjoyed every visit they made.
Toni is survived by two sons, David (Jill) Higgins of Newalla, OK, and Alan (Judy) Higgins of Bottineau; one daughter Janet-DeRuiter (Tammy) of Peach Tree City, GA; one brother, William (Barb) Borth of Wilmer, MN; 6 Grandchildren, Jennifer Francis of Bismarck, Jodi (Brandon) Loring of Minot, Jessalyn (William) Buchanan of Fargo, Jared Higgins of Oklahoma City, OK, Sierra Sage (Eric) Ross of Baytown, TX and Cheyenne Higgins of Newalla, OK; 5 Great-Grandchildern, Karter, Aspyn, and Ryker of Bismarck, Zane and Annalise of Fargo.
Toni was preceded in death by her parents and Great-Grandson, Kanyon Francis.
Arrangements were with Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.
