Todd Lane
Hunskor
Feb 6, 1972 — Nov 20, 2025
Todd Lane Hunskor, 53, of Bottineau, ND passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2025. Todd was born to Darwin and Judy (Thorenson) Hunskor on February 6, 1972. Todd grew up in Newburg, North Dakota, graduating from Newburg High School in 1990. Todd attended the University of North Dakota and the University of Mary, earning a Bachelor's & Master's Degree in Business Administration.
Todd met Tonya Biberdorf in the fall of 1994 and in July of 1999 they were married at Dovre Lutheran in Newburg, beginning a life together defined by love and mutual respect. Following their wedding, Todd and Tonya spent 10 years in Newburg & Granville before moving to Minot in 2009. They worked together to plan and build their current dream home in Sunset Bay at Lake Metigoshe. They spent nearly three decades together building a life filled with laughter, love, and shared adventures. From good-natured banter to traveling together around the world to spending time at their "happy place" - The Lake. They found joy in the simple moments and cherished their time with family and friends. Todd's love for Tonya was evident in all he did.
Todd had a deep and genuine love for the land. Farming wasn't just his work—it was the rhythm of his life. 2025 marked his 34th season farming alongside his brother Tyler, cousin Kelly, and uncle Dale. Todd extended his love for agriculture to his nephew, Tanner, and he spent many years planning his succession around him. He took pride in each season, knowing the quiet beauty of early mornings in the cab and the satisfaction of a harvest well earned. He believed in caring for the soil, honoring the generations before him, and leaving something strong for those who would follow. Todd especially enjoyed "digging" season and spent many years nurturing his family's land to its current form. His dedication to rural North Dakota ran far beyond his own fields. Todd understood the strength of small towns and the way people rely on one another. He supported many communities with the same commitment he brought to his work—showing up, lending a hand, and putting others first.
For 30 years, Todd served families and farmers across the region as an insurance agent; He offered guidance and reassurance with his steady, thoughtful presence. More than policies and paperwork, he believed his work was about protecting people—helping them prepare for the unexpected and ensuring they felt supported when life became uncertain.
Todd had a genuine passion for serving others. He listened, he cared, and he showed up. When friends were facing hardship, he didn't wait to be asked—he was often the first to rally friends, neighbors, or the entire community to make sure a family had what they needed. His willingness to help came from the heart, and many people leaned on his strength during difficult times.
Todd's nephews, nieces, grandnephews, and godchildren were a huge part of his world; He embraced the role of "Uncle Todd" with pride. Many children grew up knowing they had someone who believed in them, cared for them, and cheered them on. His legacy is one of kindness, loyalty, and a heart that gave freely and fully.
Todd is survived by his wife Tonya Hunskor; parents Darwin & Judy Hunskor; siblings Patrick & Desiree' Uhrich, Scott & Nancy Hunskor, and Tyler & Amy Hunskor; in-laws Ronald & Ardelle Biberdorf; brother-in-law Josh & Brenda Biberdorf; nieces and nephews Miles, Nora, Trent, Lucas, Lance, Tanner, Drew, Jamison, Gibson, Shiann and Joy; grandnephews Theo, Gus, and Micah; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Albert & Genevieve Thorenson and Ervin & Viola Hunskor; aunt Ruby Berentson; uncles Jerry Berentson, Donnie Farden, and Richard Rosendahl; and cousins Pammi Yeats and Rodney Berentson.
There will be a funeral for Todd on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Metigoshe Lutheran Church (165 Lake Loop Road E, Bottineau, ND 58318) with a meal served immediately following the service.
