Obituary

Tina Gillis (Allery), 63, from Trenton, ND, originally from Dunseith, ND, was born on December 9, 1961, to Jack and Angela (Lafloe) Allery. She began her journey on June 9, 2025, at Trinity Medical Center, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Belcourt, ND, and raised in Dunseith, ND. Tina finished her education at Dunseith Indian Day School and Wahpeton Indian School, later earning her GED in Belcourt, ND. She was a woman of many talents, having worked at Uniband, Poitra Construction, Belcourt Shelter, as a Flagger, ran her own daycare, managed at Walmart. She also worked as a cook and cashier at The Peace Gardens and has been with Grand Treasure Casino for 9 years as an assistant manager in the Players Club to this present day.

Tina loved beading, online shopping, music, cooking, and spending time with her kids and grandkids. She especially enjoyed cooking and hanging out with her coworkers, who felt more like family to her in Trenton. There was never a boring moment with her around; she always greeted everyone with a smile and a hug.

Tina is survived by her daughters: Jessica (Mike) Gladue, Jennifer Poitra, Jamie Poitra, Kristin Henry, and her son (RJ) Roger Gary (Shonda) Poitra. Her siblings include Angela Johnson, Keith Allery, Theresa Martinez, Sharon Allery, and Mark (Cora) Allery. She also leaves behind 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, with 3 more on the way. Above all, she was incredibly proud of her children and grandchildren. Tina spoke highly of her family in Trenton, making them feel truly special. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Angela Allery, her brother John Allery, Clifford Gillis and some nephews.

A memorial service and meal will take place on Monday, June 16, 2025, at 10 AM at Eagle Heart Lodge in Dunseith, ND, followed by a Rosary. Burial will be at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery in Dunseith, ND.

Tina would want everyone to stop crying and celebrate life just as she did.
