Thomas Davis Acheson Sr, age 77 of Bottineau passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at a Bottineau hospital.  His memorial service will be held on Monday, January 2, 2023 at 2:00 pm at the Grace Lutheran Brethren Church in Bottineau.

Thomas Davis Acheson, 77, son of T.D. and Lottie (Kirn) Acheson was born March 20,1945 in Bottineau and attended Bottineau school.   He married Evonne (Rude) in 1964 with whom he had three children: Thomas Jr, Julie, and Cathy Jo. Tom re-married in 2004 to Sheila Voeller Sather, with whom he shared many happy years.

Tom worked as a mechanic at Bottineau Motors and Frykman motors. He then went into building construction for Northland Builders and later Lester Zorn. He later started Modern Home Builders, which was his business with Ron Gust, and then on his own as Modern Home Builders. Later, he ran his own business, Tom's Home Repair, until he retired.  Tom was active in his community. He proudly served on the City Council, was a fireman from 1968-1994, and fire Chief from 1981-1988. He was president of the Fire Chief's association from 1983-1984 and was president of ND Firemen's Association from 1993-1994.

Tom was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. He had a life-long love for Bottineau and this beautiful area. He loved golfing and cruising lakeside with Sheila in their red convertible on sunny days.  After retirement, Tom especially loved traveling to Texas each winter with their camper and meeting new people, until he had a stroke. The last few years, he loved going out in his wheelchair through Forestry Park, chatting with people and especially their dogs.

Tom had an affable, boisterous personality. He was quick to joke and quicker to laugh. He will be greatly missed by his surviving family:

Tom is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Cathy Jo Krogsrud and her husband Scott Krogsrud, step daughter Amanda Sather, and brother-in-law Keith Bird.
