Terence (Terry) Lee Olson was born on June 14, 1946 in Bottineau to John and Adeline Olson.  He was raised on the family farm with his 2 brothers in Homen Township.  He attended country school and later Dunseith High School, graduating in 1964.

Terry was united in marriage to Carrol Pugh on May 29, 1971 in St. Mark's Catholic Church in Bottineau.  They were blessed with 5 children, Christopher, Michele, Robert, James and Donavan.

In his earlier years, Terry worked in construction, the oilfield, and was an over the road truck driver.  He then began a 35 year career with the Bottineau County Road Department as a heavy equipment operator.  He served as the County Road Supervisor for the last 3 years of his employment, retiring in 2010.  In retirement, Terry became a daily breakfast customer at the Family Bakery, where he could keep up on all the news of the town.  He also made a daily trip up to the farm in the hills, where he raised cattle for many years.  During the summer months he would stop off at Long Lake after being at the farm, to enjoy a beer before heading back to town.

Terry enjoyed the outdoors.  He loved to hunt and fish, ride his snowmobile, and spend time at the lake.  When the opportunity came to get a lot at Rude's Midway Bay Campground, Terry and Carrol discovered they were meant to be lake people.  Many get togethers were held each summer at the lake with family and friends, lots of good food and good times.  Terry was a dedicated hockey dad for many years, with his 4 sons all playing the official family sport.  He spent many hours at the rink in town, along with many hours driving the boys to games in southern Manitoba and across the state.  This love for hockey was carried on to the next generation, with 6 of his grandsons being Bottineau Hockey players, and Terry being a proud Hockey Grandpa.

Terry is survived by his wife of 50 years Carrol; his children: Chris (Kelly) Olson, Michele (Danny) Biberdorf, Rob (Dr. Jill Franks) Olson, Jim Olson, and Donavan (Rochelle) Olson, all of Bottineau; his grandchildren: Kennedy and Joss Olson, Riley, Ryan and Logan Biberdorf, Cody Exner, Bauer and Kayse Olson, and Maggie and Jude Olson; his step-grandsons: Chris (Cailey) Soland and Brandon (Maggie) Biberdorf; his step-great granddaughter Nola Soland; Carrol's siblings and their spouses; many cousins, nieces and nephews, and many great friends.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents, John and Adeline; his brothers and their wives, Gary and Sharlyn Olson and Marvin and Nora Olson; his father and mother-in-law Albert and Mary Pugh; brother-in-law Bob Pugh; nieces Tammy Lemke and Crystal Schmidt; nephew Scott Hofer; great nephew JD Helgeson and great niece Amanda Erickson.
