Terry "Shovelhead" Norstegaard, age 66 of Westhope, died Thursday at a Minot hospital.  His funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at 2:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.  Visitation will be Monday from 1:00 pm until 9:00 pm at the funeral home.

Terry Norstegaard, a son of Orville and Erma (Tiernan) Norstegaard, was born on May 22, 1952.  On October 9, 1982, he married Sandra Schumacker.  Terry worked in the oil fields in New Town and Westhope for many years.  He also farmed near Souris until his retirement.  Terry and Sandy also owned and operated the Red Rooster in Westhope for 15 years.

Terry loved riding his Harleys and going to bike rallies.  His favorite was in Menoken.  He also enjoyed hunting with Justin and making deer sausage and jerky.

He is survived by his wife Sandy of Westhope; son, Justin (Lisa) Norstegaard of Souris; daughter, Ashley Norstegaard of Lansford; granddaughter, Piper Jo Norstegaard; grandson, Axton Iverson; brothers-in-law, Albert Schumacker  of Devils Lake, Daniel and Marie Schumacker of Sidney, MT, sisters-in-law, Roger and Teresa Harmon of Surrey, Jerry and Debbie Vig of Glendale, AZ; mother-in-law, Agnes Schumacker of Westhope; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and the Glen Brandjord family was very close to his heart.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Erma Norstegaard.
