Steven F. Gorder passed away July 24, 2025 at St. Andrew's Health Center.   His memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at 10:30 am at the First Lutheran Church in Bottineau.  Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.  Burial will be at the Oak Creek Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers the requests that memorials be given to the Turtle Mountain Cancer Support, St. Andrew's Health Center or an organization of the donors choosing.

Steve was born February 4, 1951 to Walter F and Wilma E (Myles) Gorder in Bottineau. He graduated from Bottineau High School in 1969. He attended DCB (then known as NDSU-BBIF) graduating from there in 1971. He married Randy Sue Greenwood August 20, 1972 and transferred from UND to Minot State, graduating in May 1973.

Steve began his career in Morris, Minnesota in July 1973 working as a loan officer, branch manager for PCA. In Morris two sons were born, Steven Kelsey in 1976 and Corey James in 1979. In 1989 Steve was offered a job as the administrator at the International Peace Garden where he remained until 1996 when he accepted a position with Wold Engineering P.C. He continued working for Wold's as their business manager until he retired in March of 2020.

Steve loved being a jokester and giving people a bad time by teasing or just making light of a situation or circumstance. So many stories and jokes to tell that showed his love for life and keeping things light regardless of the circumstance. A positive mental attitude is what he tried to portray at all times. Even when fighting his 4 year battle with MDS – He was a warrior!

Steve loved his family, watching his wife and sons advance in their careers and family lives. Special pride was evident when his grandchildren achieved recognition in a sport, music, academics etc. Hunting trophies always made him smile. He loved hunting, camping, sporting events, bowling, singing, music, reading and relaxing. He also had a special passion for farming. He was able to help Solberg Farm combine 15+ years, having to give it up in 2023 for health reasons. He loved singing in Bottineau Community Men's Chorus, First Lutheran's Threshold Choir, Praise Team and Choirs, always having a good, but respectful time, depending on the situation.

He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Bottineau. Over the years he was active in many clubs, organizations and church committees, St. Andrew's Foundation Board and hospital board. Whatever he belonged to, he was always the "money guy" holding treasurer duties in about every group he was part of.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Walter & Wilma, brothers, Reginald in 1994 & Kenneth in 1967, his in-laws Gordon and Betty Jeanne Greenwood, and brothers-in-law Reid Greenwood & Taylor Greenwood.

He is survived by his wife Randy of 52 years. Sons Kelsey of Fargo & Corey (Mary) of Bottineau. Grandchildren Sydnee, Kole, James, Lewis, Warren, and Norah Gorder. Nephews Greg (Val) Gorder, Doug (Denise Oliver) Gorder, Ted (Sharla) Gorder. Nieces, Connie (Paul) Morre, Shelley Klein, Debbie Nelson and Tammy (Mike) Hall. Sisters-in-Law Joyce (Berg) Gorder and Avonne (Harold) Gessner.

The family would like to thank the Trinity Cancer Care staff and the St. Andrew's Health Center employees for the loving care they provided Steve and his family.
