Shirley Pasiczynk, age 88 of Bottineau passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2024 at a Minot nursing home. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 10:00 am at the First Lutheran Church in Bottineau. Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.
Shirley Ann Pasicznyk, a daughter of Henry and Bourghild (Hill) Olson, was born on March 5, 1935 at Overly, ND. At the age of 7, she moved with her family to Bottineau. She played clarinet in high school and graduated in 1953. She worked at the Stone Hotel. On June 5, 1954, she married Walter Pasicznyk. They moved to Missoula, MT while Walter attended college and Shirley worked for the telephone company. After Walter finished college, they moved to Lisbon, ND. They returned to Bottineau in 1962. In 1964, they had their first son Dean and in 1965 Paul was born.
Shirley worked many jobs over the years including; a switchboard operator, the ASCS Office, Dakota College in the student center, Bottineau Floral, Bureau of Census and the North Dakota Legislature for 5 sessions in Bismarck.
She was a lifetime member of the First Lutheran Church in Bottineau. She was a part of the Bottineau Community Theater. She was a member of the Sons of Norway, the Just Us Friendship Club, the Bottineau Homemakers and Birthday Club and she volunteered at the Norsk Hostfest for many years. She enjoyed trips to Norway with her Aunt Ida and trips to Churchill, MB with her cousin, Judie. Shirley enjoyed summers at Lake Metigoshe and winters in Port Aransas, TX. She also enjoyed her time with her dog, Scruffy.
She is survived by her son, Paul (Dixie) of Bottineau; 3 step-grandchildren, Jesse (Irma) Heil of Fallbrook, CA, Wyatt (Hunter Olson) Heil of Minot, and Alexis Heil of Minot as well as 3 precious step-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Walter and son, Dean.
