Shirley Ann Norquay, age 74, of Rolette, ND passed away Saturday, November 19, 2022, in her home surrounded by family.  Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at 10:00 am at the St. Michael's Catholic Church in Dunseith.  Her wake will be Monday starting at 4:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm at the church.

Shirley Norquay was born on July 25, 1948 in Belcourt, ND to Corbett and Evelyn (Peltier) Belgarde. She grew up in Dunseith and Rugby, ND. She attended school at  Rugby, Dunseith, Flandreau (SD), and graduated with her GED.

Shirley begin her caregiving work at 16 years old where she worked at the San Haven Hospital in Dunseith, then Grafton State School, REM ND, Development Homes in Grand Forks. Later she was the primary caregiver of her mother, Evelyn Belgarde, until she passed away in 2011.

Shirley met her one true love, Marvin John Norquay,  in Dunseith, North Dakota. They were married on March 6, 1969 and were together until Marvin passed away on April 1978. Shirley has four beautiful daughters, Monica Norquay (54), Wanda LaFlamme (52), Christina Mimay (45), Jamie Norquay (41). she has 10 amazing grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Shirley was known for her caring heart, her kindness and her sense of humor. She enjoyed life. She enjoyed traveling, drinking coffee, crossword puzzles, playing bingo, playing cards, sewing blankets for her family, and spending time with her family, especially her baby Jamie and her children.

Shirley was survive by her daughters: Monica Norquay (Grand Forks), Wanda LaFlamme (Fargo), Christina Mimay (Grant Mimay)(California), Jamie Norquay (Grand Forks) brothers: Gary belgarde (minot), Rick Belgarde (Melanie Nadeau)(Alvarado, MN), Sisters: Donna Hoff (Rolette)Ruby Baker (Grand Forks), 10 amazing grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, Marvin, John Norquay, parents:Corbett and Evelyn belgarde, siblings: Cecelia Koens, Duane (Pedro) Belgarde, Jerry Belgarde, Dennis Belgarde, and Marky Belgarde.

Shirley is loved and will be missed by many.
