Shirley Counts, age 77 of Bottineau, died Monday, April 8, 2019 at a Bottineau Nursing Home. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at 2:00 pm at the Lake Metigoshe Christian Center. Visitation will be Monday from 1:00 pm until 9:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home.
Shirley Mae Counts a daughter of Allan and Dorothy (Keneady) Counts, was born on November 5, 1941 at Bozeman, MT. She moved with her family at the age of 1 to Souris. There she attended school through the 8 th grade. In the summer she enjoyed cooking with her mom at Metigoshe State Park 4H Camp. She moved to Grand Forks in 1976 and in 1986 she moved to Minot. She was the first resident at REM in Minot. She worked at the International Inn, Pizza Hut, Hardees and REM all while living in Minot. People often thought she also worked at Taco John's and Kmart, where she loved to sit drink pop and people watch.
Shirley passed away on Monday, April 8, 2019 at a Bottineau Nursing Home.
She is survived by her brother, Bill Counts and his wife, Alison of Belgrade, MT; brother-in-law, Layton Gimbel of Souris and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Counts and sisters, Connie Gimbel and Marvel (Lowell) Fafnis.
Arrangements were with Nero Funeral home in Bottineau. Friends may sign the online register book at www.nerofuneralhome.net .
