Sharon
Haakenson
Mar 21, 1947 — Jul 12, 2019
Funeral services for Sharon Haakenson, age 72 of Bottineau were held on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at 10:00 am at the Lakeside Chapel at the Metigoshe Christian Center. Officiating at the service was Pastor Cole Bentley. Gordy Lindquist was the pianist and the congregation sang selected hymns. Casket bearers were Jason Kamrud, Sven Kamrud, Todd Haakenson, Tim Monson, Reggie Habberstad, Brandell Johnson, Jim Honer and Barbara Solinger. Burial was at the Vinje Cemetery.
Sharon was born in Bottineau on March 21, 1947 to Irvin and Stella (Monson) Kamrud. She attended country school for 8 years before attending Bottineau schools and graduating from Bottineau High School in 1965. She then attended the School of Forestry in Bottineau and studied Business Management. She went on to work for Koland Inc. which later became Allard Sales and then Tooke Enterprise. She loved the Turtle Mountains and found little reason to leave, especially after marrying the love of her life, Dennis "Hawkeye" Haakenson. They were married for 54 years. Together they had many adventures, often involving horses and camping. We still laugh frequently about the chariot racing days in the early 70's. Ask about the outhouse races some day.
She inherited her love of scoring a bargain from her father and collected antiques. She was a compassionate, wife, mother and grandmother. In her eyes, her grandchildren could do no wrong and she loved spoiling them, Pride Dairy ice cream for breakfast was a common occurrence. She embraced and cherished every moment with them. We know she will be watching over them and celebrating every accomplishment, big or small in the years to come.
Sharon was a classy lady and loved beautiful things. One of her favorite pastimes was shopping and adding to her designer handbag collection. She enjoyed shopping trips to Boston, decorating her home and buying "cute outfits" for the grandchildren and of course her "bling bling".
Sharon passed away unexpectedly, Friday, July 12, 2019.
She is survived by her loving husband, Dennis; daughters, Sheila (Brad) Sturlaugson of Grand Forks and Lesa (Mike) Bader of St. Paul, MN; grandchildren, Ursula and Charlie Bader, Mercedes (Konner) Eklie, Hunter, Cheyenne, Clarissa, Sylver and Joey Sturlaugson; great grandchildren, Karter and Lucy; mother, Stella Kamrud; sisters, Marlys (Chet) Habberstad, Beverly Thorsguard and Patty (Rick) Hegvick; brother, Earl (Carlette) Kamrud; sisters-in-law, Elaine Honer, Jan (Curtis) Haakenson, Syvlia (Rodney) Haakenson and Sandy (Vernon) Haakenson; numerous nieces and nephews and all the Monsons.
She was preceded in death by her father, Irvin Kamrud.
