Ruby Berentson, age 74, of Westhope, ND, died July 28, 2018.  Her funeral will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church in Westhope.  Burial will be at the Westhope Cemetery.

Ruby, a daughter of Albert and Genevieve (Mickelson) Thorenson, was born at Newburg, ND on August 4, 1943.  She was a graduate of Newburg High School and Mayville State University.  She was married to the love of her life, Jerry Berentson, on August 18, 1962.  They resided in Minot ND and Whittier CA prior to settling in Westhope ND in 1967.  She taught elementary grades in Glenburn, Souris and Westhope as well as substituting in many other schools over a career spanning four decades. In addition, Ruby taught piano lessons and was a church organist at Dovre Lutheran Church of Newburg and Trinity Lutheran Church of Westhope and played for countless weddings and funerals over the years.

Ruby is survived by her sons, Bradley (Joanne), Westhope and Kevin, Palm Springs CA, her grandsons, Colton and Lane, Westhope, and siblings Judy (Darwin) Hunskor, Newburg, Marie (Donnie) Farden, Minot, Maurice (Sandra) Thorenson, Mandan, and Dale (Cindy) Thorenson, Washington DC; numerous nieces and nephews and was preceded in death by her parents, and Jerry, who died December 23, 2000.
