Obituary

The world lost a bit of its sparkle with the passing of Rosena, beloved sister, auntie, and the undisputed life of every party. She left us on April 21, 2025, but not without leaving behind a legacy of laughter, freedom, and fierce love for her family. Rosena was a woman who danced through life—sometimes literally. She had the kind of spirit that couldn't be contained. A free soul with a wicked sense of humor, she lit up every room she entered and made sure no one ever took life too seriously. Whether it was cracking jokes, planning adventures, or just being the "funniest person ever," she made ordinary moments unforgettable. Though she never had children of her own, she was everyone's favorite Auntie. The kind who gave the best hugs, spoiled you just because, and knew exactly when you needed a good laugh (or a good drink & a smoke). Her nieces, nephews, and everyone lucky enough to be "adopted" by her knew they had someone special in their corner.

She is survived by her special nieces: Larissa (Alan Poitra) Vivier, Miranda (Jamison Diaz) DeCoteau; her Godchildren: Jesse Parisien, Telephine Champagne, DeAndra DeCoteau and Chesnie Zerr; her siblings: Belinda DeCoteau, Laris DeCoteau, Billy Bayou (Misty) DeCoteau, Lisa (Lloyd) Jeanotte, Blaine (Allison) DeCoteau and Rachel (Bazzle) Beston all of Dunseith and Iris Parisien of Belcourt, Raymond Owens Jr of Bottineau, Marne (Pinky) Nielson of Granville, brother-in-law Raymond Champagne, Aunt Loretta Villneauve, Best Friend Sandra Jerome and adopted sister Wendy (Roger Young) DeCoteau of Dunseith.

She was proceeded in death by her fiancé Steve Sanders, her parents Billy and Telephine DeCoteau, sisters Beverly Champagne, Roberta DeCoteau-Fleming, brother Kevin Lee DeCoteau, brother-in-law Lyle Parisien, niece Angel Murphy and nephews Bradley Champagne and Michael Lynn Parisien, special cousin Chucky DeCoteau. Paternal grandparents Paul and Rosina (Longie) DeCoteau and Maternal grandparents Alfred and Rachel (St. Claire) Villneauve.

Casket Bearers are Nehemiah Poitra, Caleb Poitra, Jesse Parisien, Kevin Parisien, Alex Jeanotte, Terry DeCoteau, Ethan Baker, Angelo Baker, Raymond Owens Jr and Jamison Diaz. Laying of the Pall by her God children and "adopted" children, Jesse Parisien, DeAndra DeCoteau, Miranda DeCoteau, Larissa Vivier, Telephine Champagne, Chesnie Zerr and Tanner DeCoteau.  Honorary Casket Bearers:  All Family and Friends
