She was born on September 26, 1958, in Burien, Washington, to Mae (Fosness) Metcalfe, and was blessed with the love of both James Metcalfe and Jack Metcalfe - each of whom she loved deeply and considered her father.

Rosann dedicated her life to caring for others; she began her nursing career in Georgia, where she worked courageously on the AIDS floor of a hospital during the 1980's - a time that called for both bravery and compassion. Later, she returned to school to become a Family Nurse Practitioner and went on to serve in several hospitals and clinics across North Dakota. Her patients and colleagues admired her for her knowledge, her gentle heart, and the kindness she extended to everyone she met.

She had a deep love for bluegrass and old country music. She loved to sing, play instruments, and share her music with family and friends - especially with her sister Cheryl Evans, with whom she shared countless moments of laughter and song. She cherished her large and loving family, including many sisters, nieces, and nephews. Among them, David Evans and Diane Potts held a particularly special place in her heart.

Those who knew her, will remember her sharp wit and wonderful sense of humor. She had an incredible gift for finding light in any situation and her quick one-liners, teasing remarks, and warm laughter could brighten even the hardest of days. Her humor and strength were as much a part of her as her compassion and care.

She shared a deep love with her husband of over 31 years, George Gottbreht.  Encouraged by George, Rose pursued her lifelong medical aspirations. Together they reached milestones that reflected their shared dedication, love, and perseverance - accomplishments that were truly the result of their partnership. Their journey was cheered on with great affection by Auntie Arla, one of their most loyal and loving supporters. Rosann's son, Adam Elliott and wife Jill (Lindekugel) Elliott. She was endlessly proud of Adam. In later years, Jill became one of Rosann's companions - someone that was very helpful during her recovery after several medical challenges. Rosann enjoyed her step-son's and their wives, step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren that brought her joy and laughter. She cherished every visit, every story shared, and every moment spent together. Rosann also held dear her aunt Margaret Casavant, who survives her, and treasured the memories of her late aunt Patty Woods, her late uncle Norman Fosness and his wife Elaine Fosness. A friendship that meant a great deal to her in recent years was with Lisa Acheson, who brought laughter and comfort into Rosann's life.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Turtle Lake Hospital for their exceptional care, compassion, and dedication. Their kindness and respect brought great comfort to Rosann and her family, and they will always be remembered for treating her like one of their own. Rosann will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her humor, her courage, and her unwavering love for others. She filled every room with warmth, laughter, and music - leaving behind a legacy of compassion and joy that will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew her.

She was preceded In Death by her mother, Mae Metcalfe (Fosness); father James Metcalfe; step-father, John Metcalfe and step-mother, Yolanda Metcalfe
