Obituary

Ronald Frank Wyman, 77, passed away peacefully at his home at Lake Metigoshe on Sunday, May 15, 2022, surrounded by loved ones. Visitation will be Thursday, May 19, 2022 from 1 pm to 7 pm at Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau with a family service to follow at 7 pm. The funeral will be Friday, May 20, 2022 at 10:00 am at Metigoshe Lutheran Church.  His funeral will be livestreamed on the Metigoshe Lutheran Church's Facebook page.

Ron was born on September 16, 1944 in Bottineau, ND. He was the third of six children of Lester and Jeanne (Smith) Wyman. He attended school in Newburg and graduated in 1962. He received further education at NDSU and Minot State University before returning to the farm. On September 16, 1966, he married Kathy Woods of Bottineau. Together they had three children: Todd, Heather, and Ian, and made their home on the family farmstead where Ron farmed until the late 1990's. Ron and his brothers ran North Central Equipment for a period of years and he pioneered one of the first air seeders. He also worked for Amity Technology, Souris River Grain, and Magic City Implement. After several years of selling farm machinery in north-central North Dakota, Ron traveled abroad selling, setting up, and training farm managers in Russia, Ukraine, South Africa, Kazakhstan and Australia.

Whether it was hunting, ice fishing, grilling for friends and family, or spending time in his garden, Ron enjoyed being outdoors. He was his grandkids' biggest supporter, never missing an opportunity to watch sports, rodeos, and music. His grandkids loved his quick wit and his grin that made you feel like he was always up to something.

In 2017, Ron was given the Antler Outlaw Pioneer Award for innovative seeding and farming practices, an award he was touched to receive. In 2018, he and Kathy received the County Agriculturist Award for service to the agricultural industry by the Harvest Bowl from North Dakota State University.

Ron was a member of Westhope Presbyterian Church in Westhope and later Metigoshe Lutheran Church of Lake Metigoshe.

Ron is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Kathy, along with their children, Todd Wyman of Lake Metigoshe, ND; Heather (Matt) Kersten of Kramer, ND; Ian (Karlene) Wyman of Westhope, ND. He will be treasured and forever loved by his grandchildren, Austin Wyman of Mandan, ND; Meghan Wyman of Bismarck, ND; Taylor Kersten of Souris, ND; Morgan Kersten of Fargo, ND; Lexi Wyman and fiancé Rylin Sortland of Nashville, TN; Tate Wyman of Phoenix, AZ; Ally Wyman of Westhope, ND. He is also survived by his siblings Jan Winterer of Placerville, CA; Larry (Bonnie) Wyman of Westhope, ND; Barb Wyman of Sun City, AZ; Bruce (Barb) Wyman of Fountain Hills, AZ; Jim (Barb) Wyman of Westhope, ND; along with several nieces and nephews who each have held a special place in his heart.

He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws Sam and Ann Woods; brother-in-law Brad Woods; daughter-in-law Becky Wyman; nephew Hunter Wyman.
