Ronald W. Carlson, age 70 of Bottineau, died Sunday at a Fargo hospital. His funeral will be held on Saturday at 10:00 am at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau. Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 pm until 9:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Oak Creek Cemetery in Bottineau.
Ronald Carlson, a son of Wilfred and Doris (Mason) Carlson, was born on September 18, 1948 at Bottineau. He graduated from Bottineau High School in 1968. He then joined the US Navy and served in Vietnam and Korea before receiving his honorable discharge in 1972. He worked along side his father at the Piggly Wiggly Store in Bottineau in the meat department. He then worked in Westhope, Mandan and Montana before returning to Bottineau and working for the State Forest Service. He was married to Cheryl Bullinger and they had 3 children. This marriage later ended. He lost 2 sons and his brother, Don in 2009. He pushed ahead often telling "Ole and Lena" jokes and his favorite saying, "You Betcha".
Ron was a member of the VFW, American Legion and the AmVets.
He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly (William) Decker of Mankato, MN; granddaughter, Anna sister, Diana Carlson of Bottineau; sister-in-law, Flora Carlson of Bottineau; companion, Michelin Hoffman and her daughter, Candy and nieces and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sons, Marc and Aaron Carlson and brother, Don Carlson.
Arrangements were with Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau. Friends may sign the online register book at www.nerofuneralhome.net . Memorials can be sent to the Bottineau County Veterans Building in his memory.
