Robin Kay (Thorsgaard) Forschen was born on Aug. 15, 1961 to Harvey and Kay Thorsgaard in Bottineau.

She grew up on her parent's farm and was the second of four children.

Robin grew up playing and learning through curiosity in scientific adventures such as studying things found in a pond, trying to build a raft with her uncle and sister, building a treehouse, loving kittens, outdoor games with cousins in the summer during bonfires. She enjoyed running and bike riding and playing the old pump organ. She later operated the John Deere "R" in her dad's field.

She had a natural gift with music and could play by ear without any lessons. In fifth grade, Robin wanted a microscope and a chemistry set for Christmas and it only enhanced her curiosity of living things.

During high school, Robin began working at San Haven near Dunseith. She loved her job and graduated from Bottineau High School in 1977.

Robin attended college and married Jonathan Herschlip. That marriage ended in divorce. She later married Ronald Forschen. That marriage produced one son, Matthew.

She continued college, pursuing a nursing degree while working at area nursing homes and was chosen for a very selective program in Fergus Falls, Minn., to become a histologist. She graduated from histology and worked for the Richland County coroner in Wahpeton.

After some time in that field, she further pursued her nursing degree which resulted in her most recent employment at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Bottineau. She worked there for many years until her fight with cancer began.
Throughout her life, Robin devoted her caring and compassion to the healthcare profession.

Robin's family sincerely appreciates the kind and expert care given to her while she was in Bottineau.

Robin Kay (Thorsgaard) Forschen passed away on Thursday, June 17 at St. Andrew's Health Center in Bottineau after fighting a long and courageous battle with cancer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ron; her parents; and her brother, Jeff Thorsgaard.

Robin is survived by her two sisters, Joni and Lenore; uncle, Bert Garwood; son, Matt and five adored nephews and their families.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 25, 2021 at 3:30 at the Oak Creek Cemetery in Bottineau.
