Robert Urban
Middendorf
Nov 12, 1945 — Jun 3, 2019
Robert Urban Middendorf, 73, Newburg, ND passed away in his home on June 3, 2019, just 11 days after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. A celebration of life will be held at the Newburg Senior Citizen Center on Saturday, June 8 at 2:00 pm.
"Bob" was born on November 12, 1945 to Urban and Genevieve (Linnertz) Middendorf. Gen & Urban brought him home to the farm in Grano, ND to meet his older sister Helen. When he was in high school, Gen, Urban and little sister, Audrey moved into Lansford where he graduated as a Lansford Cub in 1963.
In 1969, he married Victoria Sund of Newburg. In 1971, Bob & Vicky's first daughter Chela was born. Second daughter Amy came along just two short years later and the family moved to Newburg. Bob went to work for Sund Manufacturing at that time. Molly completed "Bob's girls" when she was born in 1981.
In his young adult years, Bob enjoyed the race world with his brother-in-law, Doug, playing cards on Friday nights and softball at Carl's Grove. He enjoyed his time as a volunteer firefighter. He was an avid Cubs fan as well as Newburg Eagle fan and was one of their biggest fans in the 80's. As his daughters grew older, he was at every event with his video camera, and once grandchildren came into the picture, he loved attending their sporting events and school programs. He didn't miss much.
Bob is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Vicky Middendorf, daughters, Chela (Rick Demke), Amy (Todd Harris) all of Minot, ND and Molly (Josh Lee) of Westhope, ND; grandchildren, Emma and Jack Demke, Dawson and Darian Harris and Laken, Tiger and Bergen Lee; great-grandchildren, Abram Harris and Carter Boecker; sisters Helen (Doug Groves) and Audrey (Steve Sidener); brothers and sisters in-law Jim Sund (Joan Boltz), Cheryl Samuelson, Kathy Susag and Sam Sund as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Urban and Gen Middendorf, father and mother in-law Jack and Arbell Sund, brother-in-laws Dick Samuelson and Jim Susag, nephew Wayd Helming.
Arrangements were with Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau. Friends may sign the online register book at www.nerofuneralhome.net.
