Rhonda K Belgarde-Baker, age 49 of Belcourt, passed away on September 16, 2025 at a Rochester, MN hospital. Mass of the Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at 11:00 am at the St. Anthony's Catholic Church near Belcourt. Her wake service will start at 8:00 am with a Rosary service at 9:00 am all at the church. Burial will be at St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery in Belcourt.
Rhonda K. Belgarde-Baker, age 49, of Belcourt, North Dakota, passed away on September 16, 2025, at Mayo Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota, after courageously battling triple negative breast cancer.
Born on August 10, 1976, in Rolette, North Dakota, Rhonda's life was defined by compassion, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family, community, and Indian Country. For 20 years, she served at Legal Services of North Dakota, advocating for the rights and dignity of low-income families. Her dedication to Indian Country was further exemplified through her role as a Victim Specialist for the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
Rhonda's giving spirit extended far beyond her work. She was a ray of sunshine to all who knew her—radiating warmth, kindness, and joy. Her deep passion for animal rescue led her to save and protect countless animals, giving them the second chances they deserved.
Above all, Rhonda was a devoted mother and wife. Her family was her greatest pride and joy, and she poured her heart into every moment she spent with them. To her daughter, Kirstine, she was not only a guiding light but also the fiercest advocate and most tender source of love. To her husband, Tom, she was a partner in every sense of the word—steadfast, loving, and true.
Rhonda's presence left an indelible mark on her family, friends, colleagues, and community. She was more than just a professional or advocate—she was a source of strength and love to all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving husband, Tom Baker; her cherished daughter, Kirstine Baker; father, Randy Vivier; mother, Sharon Belgarde (Malaterre)...and many other beloved family members who will carry her memory forward.
Rhonda's legacy lives on in the people she touched, the animals she saved, and the love she gave so freely. Her impact will continue in immeasurable ways.
