Obituary

Ralph Bjornseth, age 99 of Bottineau, passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at a Garrison, ND hospital.  His funeral will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 10:00 am the Lake Metigoshe Christian Center.  Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.  Burial will be at the Salem Cemetery.

Ralph Bjornseth, a son of Jacob and Cora (Johnson) Bjornseth, was born on October 11, 1925 on the family farm in Homen Township, north of Bottineau.   He was baptized and confirmed in the Salem Lutheran Church north of Bottineau. On July 22, 1951, he married Luella Mae Boardman at the Methodist Parsonage in Bottineau. He worked for Otto Tonneson near Newburg and then Harold Trent near Kramer.  Herb White took over the Trent farm and Ralph continued working there until 1956.  Ralph took a diesel mechanics course and in the spring of 1956, he began working for the International Harvester dealer in Bottineau.  He worked there until they went out of business in 1983.  He then started his own business which was run out of his garage.  Most of his work involved supporting farmers by going out to farms and working on trucks and tractors.  They moved to the Edgewood Vista in Minot in July of 2021 and in March of 2022 they moved to the Benedictine Living Community in Garrison.

Ralph is survived by his wife of 73 years, Luella; Children, Ron (Alison) Bjornseth, Janice (Brian) Kersten and Mark (Karen) Bjornseth; grandchildren, Lisa (Brian Modreski) Bjornseth, Steven Bjornseth, Allen (Holly) Kersten, Tracy (Brian Lund) Pelzer, Krystal (Adam) Wilcox, Paula (Brad) Jerome, Michelle (Elliot Simmons) Bjornseth, Cindy (Matt) Jossart; step-grandchildren, Katie Lutterbie, James Lutterbie, Troy (Brendalea) Most and Tarah (Craig) Madsen; great grandchildren, Colt Kersten, Wyatt Kersten, Danny Kersten, Dusty Kersten, Ashley Pelzer, Branden Pelzer, Emma Wilcox, Kash Wilcox, Harper Wilcox, Sawyer Wilcox, Elizabeth Jossart, Lonnie Jossart, Abigail Jerome, Robert Jerome and Trent Hamilton; step-great grandchildren. Aurora Most, Scarlett Most, Darian Most, Aiden Madsen and Nolan Madsen; brother-in-law, Don (Irene) Boardman; sisters-in-law, Joyce Smith and Betty Boardman and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Gladys (Albert) Rude, Viola (Alfred) Rude and Clifford (Ruth) Bjornseth; father and mother-in-law, Chase and Mabel Boardman; in-laws, Agnes (Julian) Peltier, Bob Boardman, Harold (Edna) Boardman and Jim Smith; nephews, Glen Rude, Virgil Rude and Curtis Bjornseth and niece Donna Willis.

Arrangements were with Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.  Friends may sign the online register book at www.nerofuneralhome.net .
