Quentin John Falkenbury, age 72, of Clay Center, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at his home with his wife of 44 years by his side. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Dovre Lutheran Church, Newburg, North Dakota.
Quentin was born on July 11, 1953, at USAF Base hospital, Burtonwood R.D., Lancashire, England, UK to John Quentin Falkenbury and Phyllis (Wells) Falkenbury.
He was raised in Cambridge, New York, attended Cambridge Central School and served in the US Army. When his father passed away suddenly at the age of 41 from cancer Quentin returned home to help support his mother and two younger sisters. He worked at the Hale Furniture Company in Arlington, VT for 24 years until they closed in 1989. He married Maryetta (Myers) Falkenbury, on his birthday July 11, 1981, and they made their home in the Cambridge area. He also worked for Suburban Propane, Mary McClellan Hospital, and Cambridge Central School. Quentin volunteered on the Cambridge Rescue Squad and the Shushan Fire Dept. for many years. After moving to Newburg, ND he started his career in the medical field as a CNA. He worked at Trinity Homes, Minot, the Westhope Nursing Home, Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Mohall and eventually began as a traveling CNA for Good Samaritan in Montana and Kansas. After their move to Kansas, he worked at Presbyterian Manor Nursing Home in Clay Center until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife Maryetta Falkenbury, Clay Center, KS; his son John and his wife Christina Falkenbury, Clay Center, KS, his daughter Alicia and her husband Timothy Guenther, Clay Center. Grandchildren Alexis, Clay Center, Dominic of Salina, KS, Dylan currently serving in the US Navy on the USS New Jersey SSN-796 submarine based at Norfolk, VA, Kyleigh of Clay Center, Zoe, Zaila and Harper of Milford, KS. One Great Grand Daughter Rosalie of Salina, KS. Sisters Susan Falkenbury of Myrtle Beach, SC and Anita Bolster of Cambridge, NY. Aunts Jane Wright Saratoga NY, Dorothy, Barbara Demase, Lora Wesner and Melanie Pancoast of Hackettstown, NJ. Brother in laws Frank Myers, Salem, NY and his fiancé Dianne Connors, William (Kari) Myers, Westhope, ND. Sister in Laws Lisa (Dave) Tonneson, and Nancy (Scott) Hunskor of Newburg, ND. And numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents Albert and Beatrice Wells, John (Jack) and Silva Falkenbury an Uncle Albert Wells and Aunt Amy Drinkwater
Quentin was an avid Amateur Radio Operator most of his adult life. He was a "General Class" Amateur Radio Operator call W0IDI. He was a member of the Clay Center Amateur Radio Club and a member of the Manhattan Amateur Radio Society in Manhattan, KS. He also held GMRS license a WRJV741. He enjoyed spending time family, his friends and with his grandchildren. He listened to music daily by Yanni (Yiannis Chryssamallis), the Beatles and Moody Blues. Quentin could always be found fixing and tinkering under one of his vehicles. He had many friends between New York, North Dakota and Kansas and could strike up a conversation with anyone anywhere.
