Peggy Christianson, age 75 of Bottineau, passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at a Minot hospital.  Her memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at 10:00 am at the Lake Metigoshe Christian Center.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to Metigoshe Ministries or Camp Metigoshe.

Peggy Christianson was born September 22, 1948 to Edward and Barbara (Kettwig) Fix in Devils Lake, North Dakota. She was raised in Devils Lake and graduated from St. Mary's Academy in 1966. She met the love of her life while living in Minot, North Dakota, John 0. Christianson, and they were united in marriage on December 22, 1973 in Crosby, North Dakota. Their marriage vows included the adoption of her four children. The family moved from Minot to Bottineau, North Dakota in 1973. John and Peggy welcomed John Engvald Christianson who was born August 22, 1976. At that time, the family moved to the Lake Metigoshe State Park.

Peggy waitressed at the Anchor Inn and the Birchwood Steakhouse while raising her family. In 1985, the family then moved to their permanent home on Lake Metigoshe where she took employment at Metigoshe Ministries. Peggy began employment at Dakota College of Bottineau in 1988 where she retired in 2011. She enjoyed attending hockey games and working with students on campus as well as taking classes to further her education.

Peggy cherished living on the lake. She and John enjoyed pontoon rides and visiting friends. She spent many hours swimming with her grandchildren. Peggy and John liked gathering with friends and family, playing cards and sharing a joke or a funny story. She possessed a heart that welcomed people of all walks of life. She enjoyed being involved in civic organizations like Amvets, VFW Auxiliary, and Sons of Norway. She was an avid cook and spent many hours baking, canning and gardening. Peggy never missed an opportunity to play bingo or go to the casino.

Peggy's interests extended beyond the lake and playing cards at the kitchen table; she possessed a zest for preserving cherished memories through scrapbooking. She prided herself in capturing life's moments through pictures. Each meticulously crafted page in her scrapbooks became a testament to the love, laughter, and shared experiences that defined her life.

Peggy could talk. Boy could she talk! She never met a stranger. Her ability to hold a conversation was unparalleled. Peggy adored time with her grandchildren and updated anyone who would listen. She held a very special bond with Seth, her first grandchild.

Today, as we say our goodbyes, we remember Peggy as a mother, grandmother and friend that loved to share stories about the people that were special to her. We are especially comforted in knowing that she is now reunited with her beloved husband, John, and son John E., whom she missed dearly. Like one friend stated, "It is not quiet in heaven today."

Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Barbara Fix, her sister Sharon Johnson, her brother Edward Fix, her husband John, and their son John E. Christianson.

Peggy is survived by Trevor (Karen) Christianson of Cavalier, ND; Damion ( Reyna) Christianson of New Braunfels, Texas; Rachelle (Chris) Lamoureux of Minot, ND; and Russel (Donna) Christianson of St. Johns, Florida; 10 grandchildren Seth, Taylor (Gina), Casey (Natalie) Christianson, Kali (Colton) Keller; DJ and Savana Christianson; Peyton and Karew Lamoureux, Jessica and Jacob Christianson; 3 great-grandchildren, Charlie, Malachi and Silas; her sister, Linda (James) Hartman of Mesa, Arizona and her brother, Brian Fix of The Dalles, Oregon; and several nieces and nephews.
