Patti was born on October 13, 1948 to James and Ella (Evans) Metcalfe in Rolla, ND.  She was raised on a family farm near the Peace Garden.  She attended country school for a time and then graduated from Dunseith High School in 1967.  She married Dwain Coleman on June 2, 1967.  They had two sons, Steve and Stuart.

While growing up, Patti's parents instilled a strong work ethic.  She worked in various areas throughout her life.  She owned and operated Patti's Place in Dunseith where she employed and mentored many young people over the years.  After Dwain's death in 1984, Patti went to work for a brokerage company and started with US Customs in 1987.   Patti married Jack Woods on August 29, 1987.  Patti retired from US Customs in 2011.   Jack died on March 12, 2023.

Patti enjoyed the outdoors whether it was time at their cabin or one of the many yearly hunting trips. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends which always included guitars and a sing-along with all.  Patti had a sweet tooth and was known to share her brownies with many.   Many of her lake days were spent reading, working on a puzzle, or staying up to date with friends and family on Facebook.  Over the last few years, several friends and family gathered for their Friday night supper club.  Patti thoroughly enjoyed her role as Grandma and was always up for a new adventure with each one of her grandchildren.  The latest joys in Patti's life were her two great-grandchildren.

Patti had a very kind, loving, and generous heart.  She always wore a smile and had a positive attitude even in the most difficult times. She spent many years as a caretaker for her loved ones.

Patti is survived by her sons, Steve (Nancy) Coleman, and Stuart (Melissa) Coleman; grandchildren, Allison (Tyler) Liebelt, Heather (Tyler) Erber, Makenna and Carson Coleman; great-grandchildren, Axel Liebelt and Elsie Erber; step-daughters, Lori Woods and Karen Rada; stepson-in-law, Craig Hospodor; step-grandchildren, Jason, Christopher, Jackson, and Johnny Hospodor; brothers, Jimmy (Yoli) Metcalfe, Gary (Sue) Metcalfe; sisters, Geri (Chuck) Munro, Margaret Casavant; brother-in-law, Lance Barden, and many nieces and nephews.

Patti is preceded in death by her husbands, Dwain Coleman and Jack Woods; step-daughter, Amy Hospodor; her parents and sisters, Lola Vanorny and Helen Barden, and brothers-in-law, Chuck Leonard, Stanley Casavant, and Jay Vanorny; nephew, Andy Metcalfe.
