Obituary

Norma Amsbaugh, age 88 of Bottineau, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at a Bottineau nursing home.  Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at 2:00 pm at the United Parish in Bottineau.  Visitation will begin an hour prior to service time at the church.

Norma Ann Amsbaugh, a daughter of Milton and Lillian (Lasher) Beyer, was born on November 11, 1937 in Bottineau. She attended country school before graduating from Bottineau High School. She was married to Ken Metzger for a time and this marriage later ended. On April 15, 1976, she married Charles Amsbaugh. They continued to make Bottineau their home while spending their winters in Arizona. Norma worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Baird, Dr. Troyer, Dr. Wall and Dr. Witteman. She later worked at St. Andrew’s Health Center. Charles passed away on January 20, 2018.

Norma was a member of the United Parish in Bottineau. She enjoyed doing ceramics and taking many pictures.

She is survived by her son, Douglas Metzger from Perth Australia; 2 grandchildren, Joshua of Melbourne, Australia and Shannon (Dean) of Perth, Australia; one great-grandchild due in March 2027; brother, Howard (Dorothy) Beyer of Bottineau and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; sister, Marlene Larson and several aunts and uncles.
