Neil Norris, age 96 of Westhope, passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at a Bottineau nursing home.  His funeral will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at 10:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church in Westhope.  Visitation will be begin one hour prior to the service in the church.  Burial will be at the Westhope Cemetery.

Neil Norris, a son of John and Grace (Oxton) Norris, was born on October 22, 1925 at Bantry.  He was raised there and graduated from Bantry High School.  He entered the US Navy on October 13, 1943 and served in the Pacific during WWII.  He received his Honorable Discharge on April 20, 1946.  He returned to Bantry and later worked at the Elevator in Upham.  On July 31, 1948, he married Adele Brandt in Bantry.  They moved to Kuroki. Where he managed the Helgerson Family Elevator.  They moved into Westhope in 1956.  Neil managed the Helgerson Family Elevator in Westhope until he retired in 1990.  Adele passed away on December 27, 2006.  Neil remained in Westhope until moving into the Bottineau Good Samaritan Center on March 29, 2022.

Neil was a active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Westhope and the Westhope VFW.  Neil was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan but his favorite team was the Westhope Little League Team.  Neil also took part in the Honor Flight from North Dakota to Washington DC.

He is survived by 2 sons Roger Norris and his wife, Marlene of Wilton and Dale Norris and his wife, Marie of Minot; daughter, Brenda and her husband, Steve Quist of Surrey; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Keith, Norman and Dean.

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to the Westhope Ambulance and the Westhope Fire Department.
