Myrtice Zorn, age 102 of Bottineau, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2025.  Her funeral will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 10:00 am at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.  Her funeral will be livestreamed at https://www.youtube.com/@nerofuneralhome6627/streams

Myrtice Ellis Zorn was born on September 1, 1922, in Granville, ND, to Eugene and Mary (Larson) Ellis. After graduating from Granville High School, she began working as a court clerk for the county judge of McHenry County until her marriage to Bill Zorn in 1943. Together, they farmed in Bottineau and Rolette counties before moving into town in 1980, where Myrtice resided until her passing. She dedicated over 20 years to working at San Haven Hospital in Dunseith, ND.

Myrtice leaves behind a four-generation legacy. She and Bill were blessed with seven children: Sharon, Dennis, Myron, Marlys, Bill Jr., Eugene, and Pennie. She was a beloved grandmother to 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, her sisters Dorthy and Irene brothers Faye and Milton, daughter-in-law Kim Zorn, and grandson Ryan Zorn.

Myrtice's love for family was unwavering. She always made sure her children made it home safely after visiting. She was a talented cook, known for her fresh-baked bread every Saturday and seven homemade pies—one for each of her seven pie plates.

She had a deep appreciation for poetry and could recite verses from her school days well into her later years. She cherished a poetry book from third grade that she held onto throughout her life.

Music was an essential part of her life. She sang in the church choir for many years, just like her husband, father, and many other family members. Even as she aged, she continued to sing while doing housework.

Myrtice loved riding in the fields with Bill, taking in the beauty of the land they farmed together. Whether it was a quiet evening ride, checking on the crops, or taking a trip in the gravel truck those moments were precious to her.

She also enjoyed the simplicity of living in town after decades on the farm. She found joy in dancing, a passion she inherited from her parents, who often attended neighborhood gatherings in the winter. Her father played several instruments and always saved the last dance for his wife. In fact, Myrtice and Bill first met at a dance and were married for 55 years.

Her love for the Bible was profound. She read it daily, participated in Bible studies, and even brought Bible trivia books on car trips. Her deep knowledge of scripture was evident, and even when she could no longer read, she listened to the Bible on CDs for years.

Above all, Myrtice loved the Lord. She was a devoted prayer warrior, constantly lifting up prayers for her church, her children, her friends, and anyone in need.

She loved others well and will be profoundly missed.

"We will see you again, Mom, and that will be for eternity. We love you very much!"
