Obituary

Gale Feland, age 77 of Bottineau, died Wednesday at a Bottineau hospital.  His funeral will be held on Monday at 2:00 pm at the First Lutheran Church in Bottineau.  Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 pm until 9:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to St. Andrew's Health Center or First Lutheran Church in Bottineau.

Myron Gale Feland, was born on July 18, 1940 to Philip and Marie Ethel (Hizer) Feland in Westhope, North Dakota. Gale attended Sherman Country School and Antler High School. He joined the U.S. Army Reserve and then continued his education in lab and X-ray technology. He later earned his Associate Degree at NDSU- BB. He married his high school  sweetheart, Donna Mae Nelson at First Lutheran Church in Antler on September 18, 1959. They spent two years in Williston, ND before moving to Bottineau, ND, where he was employed at the Bottineau Clinic in Lab and X-Ray. He later became the Clinic manager. He also taught the Med Tech students at the Turtle Mountain School Of Paramedical Technique. They had three children, Julie, Traci and Gregory. He was later transferred to Medical Arts Clinic in Minot, ND where they lived for three years.

They spent many weekends at their cabin at Lake Metigoshe, later building a permanent home there. They returned to Bottineau and he was employed by St. Andrew's Health Center in the X-Ray department, later becoming manager. He retired in the year 2010. Gale was active in civic and community organizations. He served on the City Council, the City Planning Commission, the Airport Authority and he was a member of the St. Andrew's Foundation Board. He was also a member of the Jaycee's where he received the Distinguished  Service Award. Gale was a member of the Bottineau Community Theater Productions. He was an active member of the First Lutheran Church in Bottineau, where he served on Church Council and was on many committees. He taught Sunday School and Confirmation Classes, and sang in the Church Choir. Gale had many hobbies throughout the years where he was an avid gardener and took pride in growing roses and attending his flower beds. After retiring, he was employed seasonally at Lowe's Garden Center in Bottineau, sharing his knowledge and love of plants. He had a large garden where he sold produce at the local Farmers Market. He loved arrowhead hunting and had a vast collection. He also loved Rosemaling. Gale and Donna spent several winters in Casa Grande, AZ at Palm Creek Resort. He became interested in Lapidary and enjoyed giving away his many stones. Gale enjoyed spending time with family and friends where so many good memories were made by the lake. He loved boating and fishing and sharing stories around the campfire, especially  Norwegian jokes.

Gale passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at a Bottineau hospital.

e is survived by his loving wife, Donna; daughters, Julie (Wayne) Olson of Bottineau, Traci Feland of Austintown, OH, and Greg (Heather) Feland of Minot, ND; Grandchildren, Lindsey (Derek) Bush of Rugby, ND, Kailey (Kelly) Bonn of Rugby, ND, Kierney (Shawn) Shultz of Bottineau, ND, Tyrell (Lily) Jung, Hannah and Allie Feland of Minot, ND; Great-grandchildren, Tailyr and Braxton Bush, Easton and Knox Bonn, Kennisyn and Madden Shultz, and Tobias Jung; sister, Phyllis Zimmerman of Minot, ND; Brother in law, Chuck Greathouse of Columbus, OH, and Brother in law, Ron (Bev) Nelson of Lake Tapps, WA; Their little dog Daisy, along with several Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins; extended family, Jerry and Betty Nelson and family of Casa Grande, AZ.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Lucinda Greathouse and brother in law, Duane Zimmerman; Father and Mother in law, Merton and Mildred Nelson.
