Myra Seter, age 87 of Cando, died Saturday, August 1, 2020 at a Cando nursing home.
Myra Mae Hahn was born January 13, 1933 to Bernhard and Eda Hahn in Bottineau ND. She was baptized and confirmed in Zion Lutheran Church in Gardena North Dakota. She grew up working on the farm with her parents and three sisters, Iris known as Mickey; Janice known as Epie; and Sheila known as Dottie. Myra had a nickname but it never stuck.
Myra was married to Marvin Seter of Carbury ND on September 28 1951. They farmed in and around Carbury and Gardena and their first child Bernhard Marvin Seter was born. The family moved to San Diego California where the second child was born, Kim John Seter. Myra worked as a laundress and seamstress for Navy personnel in San Diego while Marvin worked at the Ryan aircraft company. The family attempted to move back to North Dakota but were waylaid in Leadville Colorado where Marvin worked in the mine and Myra worked for JC Penney company for 18 years. After the boys graduated from college Myra and Marvin moved back to North Dakota and settled in Cando on a small hobby farm. Marvin died in 1999.
Myra lived in the farm for a number of years until moving to an apartment In Cando. She moved into the Towner county living center in May.
She is survived by her son Bernhard and his wife Faye, Grafton, ND; son Kim Denver CO; and grandchildren Courtney Minnot, Raleigh NC; and Daniel and their mother Donna, Denver.
Also surviving are sisters Mickey Soderberg and Dottie Brandt.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister Janice (Epie) McKay and an unnamed infant sister as well as her parents and many aunts and uncles.
The family wants to thank her neighbors and friends and the staff if Towner county medical and the living center for their kindness friendship and solicitude.
Interment arrangements and memorial are being planned for the fall and will be announced.
