Melanie Kay Werre, age 57 passed on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at Sanford Hospital in Bismarck,  Her memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 11:00 am at the Lake Metigoshe Christian Center with Pastor Cole Bentley officiating.  A reception will follow the service and then burial will take place at the Salem Lutheran Cemetery.

Melanie Werre a daughter of Marleen Rude and step-father Arlan Soland, was born on December 6, 1965 in Bottineau.  She attended school in Bottineau and graduated in 1985.  She then attended the NDSU State School of Forestry and graduated with a AS degree in Social Science.  She worked at Camp Metigoshe and the Metigoshe State Park as a park aid and security.  On June 25, 1988, she married Scott Werre at the Lake Metigoshe Christian Center.  They moved to Baldwin, ND and worked for Beams Propane for 5 years.  In 1993, Melanie and Scott started Baldwin Greenhouse and Nursery and operated it until their retirement in 2021.  They then moved to their cabin in the Turtle Mountains.

Melanie was beautiful inside and out.  She loved her family, friends and dogs.  She believed in hard work and was a good business women.  She was an avid gardener and potter.  She enjoyed camping, traveling and bass fishing, catching several whoopers in Minnesota and in the Turtle Mountains.  She will be missed by many.

She is survived by her husband, Scott; daughter, Erica; grandchildren, Milique and Brian; sisters, Marla (Joe) Stevenson and Angie (Darin) Nelson; brothers, Todd Pederson, Terry (Jodie) Pederson and Shawn Soland and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, Martin and Lucille Rude and Lawrence and Agnes Soland and niece, Triniti Soland
