Obituary

Mary Knox, age 84 of Bottineau, passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at a Minot hospital.  A service will be held at a later date.

Mary "Tiny" Knox, a daughter of Bernie and Olga (Anderson) Knox, was born on November 20, 1938. She was raised on a farm north of Dunseith and attended country School.  On September 20, 1958, she married Chris "Snooks" Hoopman, Jr of Dunseith.  They eventually settled in Dunseith with the family and she attended nursing school in Devils Lake. This marriage later ended.  She then lived and worked in many amazing places before eventually settling in Dunseith.   Mary worked in the healthcare industry as a nurse in North Dakota and Montana until she retired.

She enjoyed quilting, baking, traveling, fishing and playing games.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Thompson of Bottineau; sons, Kevin Hoopman of Log Cabin, TX and Jody Hoopman of Bottineau; grandchildren, Alonna (Martin) Guerrero, Jeffrey (Linda) Hoopman, Jessie (Clinton) Kaska, Amy (Jacob) Tatarian, Bambi (Todd) Thompson and Rachael Miller; great-grandchildren, Grace and Isaiah Guerrero, James and Ava Hoopman, Cassandra and Moriah Kaska and Jacob Jr, Hayden, Kaylynn and Jace Tatarian; great-great-grandchild, Angel Martinez; sisters, Susie Millang and Minnie Flynn of Dunseith and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Dorothy Earl, Guy Knox, Nettie Tooke, Ina Sletten, Joyce Wilkinson and Coral Carlson.

Arrangements were with Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.  Friends may sign the online register book at www.nerofuneralhome.net.
