Marvin Blada, age 94 of Newburg, passed away on Sunday, April 4, 2021 at a Minot hospital. His funeral will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at 11:00 am at the St. John's Lutheran Church near Newburg. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.
Marvin Alfred Blada, son of Edward and Elnora (Herslip) Blada was born on the home farm near Newburg, North Dakota. on December 8, 1926. He reared there and attended Newburg Public School graduating in May of 1944. Marvin was drafted in the US Army and served from June 20, 1945 until receiving his honorable discharge on March 10, 1946. He returned home to Newburg to help with the farming. On October 10, 1952, he was married to Joyce Brandt Blada at St. John's Church, rural Upham. After their marriage the couple lived and farmed east of Newburg with five children. Marvin had various occupation, farming, pork business, Scorpion snowmobiles and working in his heated shop fixing and engineering parts. His true love was being a farmer through and through. It was the way, he lived his life, from the time the first seed was planted until the last round was combined. He was proud to farm the land he grew up on. In his free time, Marvin enjoyed bowling, good game of cards, snowmobiling and in his later years he enjoyed watching his grandchildren in sports, NBA Basketball, NFL football and Saturday football NDSU Bison.
Marvin was an active member holding various offices within St. John's Lutheran Church from baptism to the last day until he was called home to the Lord. He was an active member of the Newburg Senior Citizen's Club and Newburg and Russell grain Coop and VFW.
Marvin passed away on Easter Sunday April 3, 2021, at Trinity hospital in Minot.
He is survived by daughters, Cynthia Joy (Curtis) Stebleton of Lakeville, MN and Audrey Jo (Orville) Wang of Devils Lake; sons, Harlan (Mary) Blada of Newburg, Gregory Blada of Towner and Bradley (Jude) Blada of Kramer. Nine grandchildren, his only sister Ellen Blada (Cushing) and a number of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife Joyce, Infant son Harley, 2 brothers, his parents, and Granddaughter Ashley Blada.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to the St. John's Lutheran Church Building Fund.
