Martha LaFountaine, age 86 of Dunseith, died Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at her hone north of Dunseith.  Her funeral Was held on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at 10:00 am at the St. Michael's Catholic Church in Dunseith.  Burial was at St. Mary's Cemetery.

MARTH CREE LAFOUNTAIN

Martha Cree LaFountain, age 86 of Dunseith, passed away June 9, 2020 at her home in Dunseith. Martha was born on February 22, 1934 in Belcourt to Fred and Laura (Daniels) Day. She had three brothers: James and George Day, and Patrick Fayant. She also had three sisters: Evelyn Day, Ernestine St. Claire and Mary Rose Fayant. They made their home in Belcourt on a farm. She went to school until the sixth grade.

She met and married her first husband, Jerome Cree. They lived in SD, MT, and CA before returning back to ND. They had four boys: Larry , Bryon, Dale and Bradley. They later divorced after moving back to ND. She also had four more daughters: Delcie and Eloise Cree, Kim Day, and Pamela Longie. She met and married Howard LaFountain and was married to him until her death.

She had worked as a teacher's aid, a field laborer and a bar attendant.

She is survived by her children: sons, Larry (Yvette) Cree, Byron (Joan) Cree; and daughters, Sharon, Kathy, Delcie and Eloise Cree, Pam Longie, and Kim Day; godsons, Linus St. Claire, Colin Vivier and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Martha was preceded in death by both parents; all her brothers and sisters; husband Howard LaFountain; ex husband, Jerome Cree; sons, Dale and Bradley Cree; daughter, Laura Cree Herald; grandson, Carris Cree and best friends, Carol and Jean DeCoteau.
