Mark Belgarde, age 61 of Dunseith, passed away on Friday, August 12, 2022 at a Grand Forks hospital. His funeral will be held on Friday, August 19, 2022 at 10:00 am at the Eagle Heart Cultural Center in Dunseith. His wake will be on Thursday starting at 4:00 pm at the Eagle Heart Cultural Center. Burial will be at the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery near Dunseith.
Mark Richard Belgarde was born on May 9th, 1961 in Rugby, ND at the Good Samaritan Hospital to Evelyn (Peltier) Belgarde and Corbert Belgarde. He lived in Rugby until the age of 7 and moved to Dunseith, ND before attending Wahpeton Boarding School until the 8th grade.
Mark did not marry but he was the father of one son, Mark Mondor of Grand Forks, ND. Mark worked many jobs though out the years. He loved to travel with the carnival and work as the carnival ride announcer. He lived in Austin, Texas for a time and enjoyed setting up for bands like Hank Williams Jr., Mickey Gilley, Waylon Jennings, and Shania Twain. While living in Austin, he also loved hanging out at Gilleys bar. In his younger days, he loved to dance and dress western.
He loved his Edie, his partner of the past 15+ years. He spent his last years in Belcourt, ND. He loved gardening. He was really proud of his garden at the retirement home, where he lived up until he passed. He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.
Mark is survived by his son Mark Mondor and grandchildren of Grand Forks, ND; brothers, Rick Belgarde of Alvarado, MN and Gary Belgarde of Minot, ND; and sisters Shirley Norquay and Donna Mae Hoff of Rolette, ND and Ruby Baker of Grand Forks, ND; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn (Peltier) Belgarde; father, Corbert Belgarde; brothers, Dennis Belgarde, Duane (Pedro) Belgarde, and Jerry Belgarde; and sister Cecila {Cec) Koens.
Arrangements were with Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau. Friends may sign the online register book at www.nerofuneralhome.net.
