Marjorie
Johnson
Dec 21, 1933 — Sep 28, 2020
Marjorie Nettie (Erdman) Johnson was born December 21, 1933 on the family farm
north of Souris, ND. Her parents were Emil and Nettie Erdman, she had two brothers
and four sisters. Marjorie cherished her memories growing up on the family farm. It
was a happy time for her. Marjorie played basketball in school and was made captain of
her team. She went on to further her education in Minot, ND to become a teacher,
however Fred Johnson entered her life and her plans changed as she met the love of
her life.
On March 29, 1952 she married Fred Johnson in Bottineau and they made their home
on the farm north of Kramer, ND. They enjoyed 62 years of marriage together. They
raised two children Rebecca and Matthew. Mom was a loving wife, mother,
grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed her family, working around the farm
and traveling various places over the years. Mom was a self taught cake decorator and
the family always cherished Grandma's cakes. She would make cakes for many baby
showers, anniversaries and weddings. Mom and Dad spent many years wintering in
Weslaco, Texas and cherished their time with friends down South.
She had an avid love and passion for the Bible and Bible truths. What she learned
gave her an eagerness to want to share and teach others about God and his name
Jehovah.
During her later years her son, Matthew, lovingly cared for her in her home. Dementia
became her struggle and Mother fell asleep in death in Minot on September 28,2020.
Mom is survived by her daughter Rebecca Green (Art) and her son Matthew Johnson.
Mother had four grandchildren, Lezlie Scebenski (Ernie), Heidi Skelton (Cory), David
Green (Corinne), and Heather Green. She was also blessed with five great-grandchildren,
Lexi, Marlee, John, Bentley and Paisley. She is also survived by her sister Nina Hermanson, and her two sister-in-laws Myrtle Erdman and Sharon Erdman as well as many nieces and nephews.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, her brothers, Cecil Erdman and Norris Erdman, as well as her sisters Evelyn Iverson, Loretta Backman, and Bernice Cote. She is also predeceased by four brother-in-laws, Marvin Iverson, Harold
Backman, Jerald Cote and Marvel Hermanson.
At this time, her family would like to express our sincere thanks to all those who have
sent messages of condolence and kind words of sympathy, they are very much
appreciated. Our hearts are broken; we will miss her terribly and we look forward to the
time we will see her again.
A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
