Marilyn "Mickey"
Grace Gibson, age 86 of Bottineau, passed away Wednesday at the Edgewood Vista in East Grand Forks, MN. Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 10:00 am at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau. Burial will be at the Oak Creek Cemetery also in Bottineau. In lieu of flowers, the requests that memorials be given to Dementia Society of America or the Alzheimer's Association.
Marilyn "Mickey" Grace Gibson, a daughter of Warfield and Thelma (Stewart) Halvorson, was born on December 5, 1931 in Fergus Falls, MN. She was raised there and graduated from Fergus Falls High School. She then attended Mayville State and earned her Teaching Certificate. Mickey then moved to Cavalier, ND and taught kindergarten. On June 15, 1953 she married Thomas "Bill" Gibson at Cavalier. Mickey lived in Devils Lake while Bill served in the US Army from August 24, 1954 until August 14, 1956. Following his Honorable Discharge, they returned to Cavalier. They moved to Hillsboro in 1958 and to Minot in 1961. Mickey was the office manager at the Parkview Trailer Court in Minot for several years. In 1971, they moved to Bottineau where Mickey was an Avon Representative and she also worked at Hiway Grocery. Bill passed away on November 14, 2014.
Mickey was a member of the St. Mark's Catholic Church in Bottineau where she served as an Eucharistic Minister, the head of the prayer line and as a member of the Altar Society. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and a Birthday Club. She enjoyed cooking, baking, needlework, gardening, golfing and spending time at the lake.
Marilyn passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at the Edgewood Vista in East Grand Forks, MN.
She is survived by her son, Thomas W. Gibson Jr (Lory) of Bottineau; daughter, Jayne "Janie" Ramsey (David) of Park River; 5 grandchildren, Justin Ramsey of Bismarck, Travis Ramsey of Rugby, Haylee Gibson of Alexandria, MN, Lisa Gibson of Grand Forks, and Benjamin Gibson of Philadelphia, PA; great grandchildren, Connor and Drake Ramsey of Rugby; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, George Halvorson and sister, Elaine Cornforth Perkins.
