Margaret Roland, age 92 of Bottineau, died Saturday at a Bottineau hospital. Her funeral will be held on Friday at 10:00 am at the Lake Metigoshe Christian Center. Visitation will be Thursday from 1:00 pm until 9:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.
Margaret Roland, a daughter of Olaf and Aslaug (Arneson) Bergsnov, was born on November 19, 1926 at Bottineau. She grew up south of Bottineau and attended Trengen School. She later graduated from Bottineau High School before attending the North Dakota School of Forestry in Bottineau. She worked for a time at the Charnholm Store in Bottineau. In 1946, she married Leonard "Slim" Roland. In 1950, they purchased the Peterson Farm just east of Lake Metigoshe. Margaret worked at Pilgrim Park for a time. In 1963, she began working at North Central Electric as a payroll clerk. She retired from North Central Electric in 1992. Slim passed away on September 21, 2011. Margaret continued to make her home on the farm.
Margaret was a member of the Metigoshe Lutheran Church where she was active in the WELCA and the quilting group. She was also a member of the Sons of Norway and active in 4-H. She enjoyed many years of snowmobiling with friends in the Turtle Mountains.
Margaret passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at a Bottineau hospital.
She is survived by a son, Larry Roland of Bismarck; 2 daughters, Patricia Hill of Bismarck, ND and Marlys (Gary) Kippen of Bottineau; 7 grandchildren, Troy Hill, Heather Hunt, Patrick Kippen, Kevin Kippen, Kindy Sime, Christopher Roland and Tharon Roland; 8 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael, son-in-law, Rod Hill, sister, Sigrid and her husband, Oliver Berg and brothers, Erling and Arthur.
Arrangements were with Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau. Friends may sign the online register book at www.nerofuneralhome.net.
