Margaret Mehlhoff, daughter of Phillip and Agatha (Gange) Volk, was born on December 25th, 1938, near Drake, North Dakota. She was raised on a farm by Karlsruhe, North Dakota. She attended school through the 8th grade and some high school. She grew up in a musical family and played guitar

On February 25th, 1957, she married Daniel Mehlhoff of New Rockford, North Dakota. They lived in New Rockford for a short time and then moved to Bottineau in 1962. They had 2 sons and 2 daughters.

Margie had a daycare for many years which she truly enjoyed and always like to talk about the kids in her daycare and what they are presently doing in their lives. After daycare, Margie began working at Lloyd's Super Valu in the bakery department later becoming the manager. During this time, Margie made her famous German Kuchen, a dessert item that she could never make enough for the customers. Unknown to many, Margie was a seamstress, a talent she passed on to her daughter Tammy, also a gifted seamstress.

Margie was the matriarch of the family, especially through the difficult family times while the kids were growing up. Margie was always there, unconditional love, a heart that would never break, and a commitment to her children that was paramount. Margie had an incredible faith and the love of Jesus that she displayed in everything she did. Margie believed in the power of prayer and regularly prayed the rosary. Before she passed, Margie's sense of humor was still intact and was so much at peace and ready to go home to her savior, Jesus.

During the last 10 years, Margie was unable to travel due to her severe arthritis in her neck. Margie cherished phone calls from her sisters Linda and Sylvia, her kids and grandkids. Those calls meant so much to her, even up to the time of her passing.

She is survived by her 2 sons, 2 daughters and 2 sisters; Dan (Lisa Mastvelton) of Bottineau, Kim and Tammy of Minot, and Amy (John) of Bismarck; Sisters: Linda Abel and Sylvia Frazer both of Tacoma WA; Grandchildren: Greg (Michelle), Leah (Jim), Stephanie (Kent), Andrew, Kayla (Jared), Derrick (Avin), Isaiah, Camilla, Ali (Derrek), Jordan, Grace (Jared), John and Sidney; Great-grandchildren: Drew, Quin, Mya, Brady, Chloe, Jedadiah, Grace, Tucker, Jameson, Emma, Olivia, Jack, Ava, and Miles.
