Mabel Parisien, age 81 of Dunseith, passed away on Monday, September 13, 2021 at a Belcourt hospital. A memorial service will be held on Monday, at 10:00 am at the St. Ann's Catholic Church in Belcourt. Burial will be at the St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery.
Mabel Parisien, a daughter of Lloyd and Margaret (Grandboise) Martin, was born on November 17, 1939 at Belcourt. She was the oldest daughter in a family of 16 children. She attended the Flandreau Indian School before attending Belcourt High School where she graduated. She then went to UND in grand Forks for 2 years. She married John Parisien and they had 6 children. Mabel worked numerous jobs through out her life. She worked at the Belcourt Middles School and the Belcourt Headstart before moving to Dunseith. She then worked at the Dunseith Day School for 20 years and then she worked as a cook at the Ojibwa School before she retired. Her favorite job was being a mother and taking care of her children and grandchildren. She also worked at the Dunseith Senior Meals whenever they needed her.
Mabel enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino and cooking meals. She loved spending time with family and friends. Mabel was graceful, elegant and had a amazing smile. She smiled right up until her passing.
She is survived by her children, Douglas P. Parisien, John D. Parisien, Lloyd J. Parisien, Dennis P. Parisien, and Sherry (Bryan) Armentrout; grandchildren, Aurina Gorbovits, Preston Parisien, Stacy Parisien, Brandy Duarte, Taylor Parisien, Cedric Parisien Maddie Parisien and Landan Armentrout; great-grandchildren, Kiera, Sophia, Meridith and Gavin; her brothers and sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
Arrangements were with Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.
