Lynne Marie Boettcher, age 84 of Bottineau, passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at a Minot hospital.  Her funeral will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 10:00 am at the First Lutheran Church in Bottineau.  Visitation will be on Friday starting at 5:30 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.  Burial will be at the Oak Creek Cemetery in Bottineau.  Lunch will be held in the church basement following the service.

Lynne was born February 21, 1940 to Otto and Elizabeth (Fraser) Bergman. The oldest of 10 children, Lynne was raised by her parents on their family farm.  Lynne began her education in a one-room country school in Amity Township known as the "Bergman School" and graduated from Bottineau High School in 1957 at the age of 17.

Following high school, Lynne graduated from flight attendant school in Minneapolis.   Because of her young age, she wasn't able to begin this career for another year so returned to Bottineau where she was hired in banking.  She married Gary Boettcher on December 23, 1959 and spent their first year of marriage in Fort Riley, KS.  While the couple was stationed there, Lynne worked as a seamstress, patching soldiers' uniforms in order to pass inspection.

Lynne and Gary moved back to North Dakota where Lynne returned to banking in Souris. The couple later moved to Sherwood, then Westhope where Lynne was employed at Peoples State Bank for several years.

In 1979, Lynne began her career as the Business Manager for Westhope School.  Over twenty-three years, Lynne worked with many variations of school boards, administrators, and staff. In 1995, Lynne was hired as business manager for both Newburg and Westhope schools until 2002 when she retired.

After retirement, Lynne and Gary moved to Bottineau.  In retirement, Lynne worked as business manager for the Rolla School and South Prairie School for a short time and at Sandee's Hallmark for several years.

In addition to her full-time career and mother to four children, Lynne was devoted to community service. She was on the Board of Directors for the Westhope Home and the Westhope School Board, a member of Homemakers and taught Sunday School for many years.  Lynne was highly involved in school activities from ticket-taking to planning the first After-Prom party.  Lynne served on church committees and boards throughout her life, never feeling that her time to help was done. She was the treasurer for WELCA and active in Deborah Circle bible study for many years.  She had only recently retired as a chairperson for the funeral committee. She also appreciated her time spent with the coffee group and the quilting group at First Lutheran.

Lynne was an exceptionally skilled seamstress and quilter. She won Grand Champion at the Bottineau County Fair and was still sewing quilts in the last weeks of her life. Lynne was a baker and was especially known for her pies.  Lynne and Gary enjoyed their local Saturday Morning Coffee Group as well as traveling coast to coast to visit family and see new places.

Lynne and Gary were known for their hospitality.  They were the source of connection for many friends and Bergman and Boettcher families in their homes in Westhope, Bottineau, and Lake Metigoshe.  They attended many of their grandchildren's and great grandchildren's events including the baptism of their youngest great-grandchild in December.

Lynne is survived her husband Gary of 64 years; their children Allen (Jackie) Boettcher of Lake Metigoshe, Barbara (Jim) Muckenhirn of Karlstad MN, Janice (Joe) Kern of Grafton ND, Paul (Erin) Boettcher of Bottineau; grandchildren Kelsey (Scott) Biberdorf of Overly ND, Carly (Derek) Blasing of Minot, Emily Boettcher of Los Angeles, CA, Kenny Kern, Charlie Kern, Tommy Kern all of Fargo, Jack Kern of Grafton, Nicolas Loberg of Fargo, Michael Loberg, Adam Boettcher, Annika Lynne Boettcher all of Bottineau; great grandchildren Kiera Biberdorf, Audrey Wierson, Zoe Biberdorf, and Rory Blasing; her siblings Carol (Doug) Lindekugal, Ron (Sandee) Bergman, Ralph (Jan) Bergman, Bob (Karen) Bergman, Lois (Tim) Bergman all of Bottineau, Sally (Dave) Duval of Fargo, Alda (Jack) Carter of Gladstone MO, Ken (Marion) Bergman of Gurnee IL, Jim (Marilyn) Bergman of Warroad MN, Brother-in-law Bruce (Bonnie) Boettcher of Eugene OR, and sister-in-law Marlene Moorhead of Northeast PA.
