Lyle Sivertson, age 89 of Bottineau formerly of Landa, passed away on Monday, October 10, 2022 at a Bottineau. His funeral will be held on Monday at 10:00 am at the Lake Metigoshe Christian Center. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau. Burial will be at the Turtle Mountain Lutheran Cemetery near Carbury.
Lyle Sivertson, a son of Selmer and Olga (Iverson) Sivertson, was born on October 9, 1933 at the family home in the Turtle Mountains north of Bottineau. He grew up in the Turtle Mountains and attended country school. He entered the US Army in 1953 and served until receiving his Honorable Discharge in 1955. He married Mavis Holen on June 10, 1956. They made their home in Landa. In 1960 he began working at the Landa elevator. He became the manager in 1968. He retired in 1998. Mavis passed away on May 14, 2014. Lyle remained in Landa until moving into the Bottineau Good Samaritan Center in 2022.
Lyle served in the Westhope School Board for a time. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, putting together puzzles, baking and cooking.
He is survived by his daughters, Penny (Guy) Backman of Souris, Pamie (Rob) Wettlaufer of Bottineau and Kathy (Lyle) Lesmann of Landa; son, Randy (Lory) Sivertson of Rolette; grandchildren; Troy Backman, Jason Wettlaufer, Bradley Lesmann, Kayla Wettlaufer-Coleman, Katie Lesmann-Gefroh and Amanda Backman-Lorenz; great grandchildren, Kali Backman, Carter Coleman, Jocelyn Wettlaufer, Isabell Coleman, Olivia Lesmann, Braelynn Mavis Coleman, Kenly Gefroh, Jayden Gefroh and Logan Gefroh; brother, Kenny Sivertson of Bottineau; sisters, Florence Pedie of Bottineau, Shirley Kofoid of Bottineau and Gladys Stevens of Valley City and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Bud Sivertson, Sanford Sivertson, Lloyd Sivertson, Glenn Sivertson and Norman Sivertson and sister, Evie Sivertson.
Arrangements were with Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau. Friends may sign the online register book at www.nerofuneralhome.net .
His funeral will be live streamed on the Metigoshe Lutheran Church's Facebook page.
