Lyle Bickel age 89 of Willow City, died Wednesday at a Bottineau hospital. His funeral will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am at the First Lutheran Church in Willow City. Visitation will be Friday (Today) from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.
Lyle Bickel, a son of Ed and Rose (Roths) Bickel, was born on April 15, 1928 near Willow City. He was raised on a farm near Willow City where he lived and worked until joining the US Army on March 11, 1951. He served overseas during the Korean War and was honorably discharged on March 3, 1953. He returned to the family farm near Willow City. On October 29, 1953, he married Grace Bower at Willow City. They lived on the farm until July of 2007 when they moved into Willow City. Grace passed away on April 12, 2009.
Lyle was a Lifetime Member of the American Legion. He enjoyed listening to the Minnesota Twins and watching all kinds of sports, going to the casino, having coffee with his friends, hunting, and attending his grandchildren's activities.
He is survived by daughters, Barb Bickel of Bowman and Camille Bickel of Bismarck; son, Mike Bickel and his wife, Julie of Minot; grandsons, Jeremy and Spencer Bickel of Minot and granddaughter, Madison Bickel of Minneapolis; siblings, Eulalia, Gene, Curtis, Dwayne and Gary; brother-in-law, Jim Bower; sister-in-law, Verna Bower, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jack and sisters, Fern, Marge and Lila.
Arrangements were with Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau. Friends may sign the online
