Luella 'Lolly' Lindquist, age 76, of Dunseith, passed away unexpectedly at the Belcourt Hospital on Friday, August 29th, 2024. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 6, 2024, at the Eagle Heart Cultural Center in Dunseith with Reverend Kim Fox officiating. Wake/Viewing will be held from 8:00am to 2:00p.m. with funeral services beginning at that time. Burial will follow in St. Sylvan's Cemetery. Casket bearers are Mike Counts, Kelly Azure Jr., Josh DeCoteau, Garrett DeCoteau, Riel DeCoteau, Tyrrell DeCoteau, Van Peltier, Terry Beston. Honorary bearers are her brothers & sisters. Special music by Craig Lunday and Alvin Poitra. Eagle Nation Drum Group
Lolly, a daughter of Benjamin & LaRose (St. Claire) DeCoteau, was born February 4, 1948, in Belcourt. She received her education at WIS in Wahpeton, ND and Flandreau Indian School, South Dakota. After completing her education Lolly moved to Minot, ND then to Minneapolis, MN where she became employed at Cinch-Nuline. In August of 1984, she married Richie Lindquist in Minneapolis, MN where they made their home for awhile, before moving to Thief River Falls, MN, residing there until Richie's passing in 2017. She then moved back to Dunseith to be closer to family.
In her spare time she loved spending time with family and friends especially visiting with her cousin Myrnabelle, going to the casino, eating out, traveling to Disneyland, Graceland, Florida and other places of interest. She also had a passion for collecting salt and pepper shakers, which drew her to flea markets where her collection grew tremendously. She was an avid fan of the Denver Broncos, especially her idol, John Elway. She loved sunflowers.
She is survived by her sons, Lynn (Kim) DeCoteau, DelRay (Bobbi Jo) DeCoteau and Daryl Patterson; grandkids - Ashley, Seth, Dominic, DJ, DeShaun; great grandkids - Sydney, Seth Jr., Bobby, Skylar, Ryan & Riley; brothers Raphael (Carla) DeCoteau, LeRoy (Wendy) DeCoteau, Gene (Kim) DeCoteau, Terry (Myrna) DeCoteau, all of Dunseith; sisters – Betty Swain, Shirley Belgarde, Dean DeCoteau, and Esther DeCoteau, all of Dunseith; sister-in-law Sherry Sanchez DeCoteau, Trenton; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richie; daughter, Billie Jo, son Ben William Patterson; grandson, Adam DeCoteau; parents, Ben & LaRose DeCoteau; grandparents, Robert & Mary Alice (Norquay) St. Claire and Fred & Philomene Azure) DeCoteau; brothers, Gary, Earl, Kenny, Leslie and Wesley DeCoteau; sister, Ella 'Susie' Davis, brothers-in-law, Allen 'Kumish' Davis, Dennis Counts, Darrold Krumweide, James 'Smiley' Belgarde; sisters-in-law, Colleen Thomas-DeCoteau, Patricia DeCoteau & Kim DeCoteau ; nieces, DeAnn Krumweide, Rhonda DeCoteau, Danielle Swain, and Jennifer DeCoteau; nephews, Benjamin Gene DeCoteau, Brandon Stewart Jr. and other extended family members.
