Obituary

Lois Olson, age 77 of Bottineau, passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at her home near Long Lake in the Turtle Mountains near Bottineau.  A service will be held at a later date.

Lois was born on May 9, 1946 to Les and Lavern Abraham in Valparaiso, Indiana.  She attended school in Wheeler, IN and graduated from Wheeler High School in 1964.  She met Jerry Olson, the love of her life, at her graduation party and they were married on October 31, 1964. While in Indiana, they welcomed their first son, Owen on May 22, 1967.  They moved to Golden, CO in the summer of 1968 where Jerry built Lois her dream home.  After 4 years in Golden, they welcomed their 2nd Son Carl on August 22, 1972.  In 1976, the family moved to the Turtle Mountains in North Dakota.  Her role of housewife and mother increased to ranch hand, gardener and raising chickens.

After many years, Lois and Jerry took a long road trip. They fell in love with Tularosa, New Mexico eventually buying some property and becoming snow birds for 20 years.  They made many great friends and had a strong church family there as well.

Lois was very devoted to her family and was proud of who they were and what they would become.  She loved the Lord, attended Bible studies and taught Sunday School at Grace Lutheran Brethren Church and she later attended the Baptist Church in Bottineau.  Lois found a renewed joy when her grandchildren were born.  They brought energy and life to both her and Jerry.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Jerry; sons, Owen (Christie Lee) of San Francisco, CA and Carl (Tina) of Bottineau; granddaughters, Ashley and Makayla both of Bottineau; brothers, Robert and Les both of Indiana; sister, Helen of Illinois and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by parents; brother, Carl; and sisters, Nancy, Cynthia and Cheryl.

Lois went to her Lord and Savior passing away at home after a battle with lung cancer.  God answered her prayers and request on how she wanted to go.  She will be remembered for her strong love, strong faith and strong will.

"You are my refuge and my shield. I have put my hope in Your words."  Lois' family would like to say thanks to all family and friends who have reached out to them at their time of need.

Arrangements were with Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.
