Obituary

Lloyd Pederson, age 87 of Bottineau, died Sunday at a Bottineau hospital.  His funeral will be held on Thursday at 10:00 am at the Lake Metigoshe Christian Center.  Visitation will be Wednesday from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.

Lloyd Orlando Pederson the son of Hjalmer Adolph Pederson and lrene Dorthea (Rud) Pederson was born December 19,1931 in Bottineau. Lloyd grew up on the family farm in the Turtle Mountains. Attended Loon Lake #3 county school through the 8th grade. He took high school correspondence courses from 1946 to 1949, receiving his High School Completion Certificate in 1949. He was then drafted into the US Army, serving his country from November 4, 1952 to August 25, 1954.  He was stationed in Japan and Korea. He then attended the North Dakota School of Forestry Bottineau from 1955 to 1957. In 1958,  enrolled at the University Of North Dakota, Grand Forks, majoring in accounting, while there he was a member of the Delta Sigma Pi.  Lloyd spent the majority of his life on the family farm in the Turtle Mountains farming and raising livestock.

A member of the Lake Metigoshe Lutheran Church. He served on the church council for a number of years, was president of the Metigoshe Cemetery Association for several years, and the Cordelia Township clerk for 49 years, receiving a Certificate of Appreciation in March of 2016.

Lloyd had a passion for auction sales, if there was an auction within a hundred miles, one would find him there. A calm and quiet man, he enjoyed the solitude of farm life, and remained there until the fall of 2014 when he moved to Bottineau due to declining heath.

Lloyd passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2019 at a Bottineau hospital.

He is survived by a nephew Duane (Helen) Christenson, Bottineau, nephew-in-law Ronald Peterson, Jacksonville, Fl., great nieces & nephews; Brent (Jennifer) Christenson, Bottineau, Shadell (Douglas) Faircloth, Powell, Ohio, Douglas (Laura) Peterson, Highlands Ranch, Co., Lisa Martinelli, St. John, Fl., and Brian (Leah) Peterson, Pine, Co and 9 great-great nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Alida Christenson, brother-in-law Marvin Christenson, a niece Marlys (Christenson) Peterson, aunts & uncles.

Arrangement were with Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.  Friends may sign the online register book at www.nerofuneralhome.net.
