Linda Marie Poitra, age 69 of Dunseith, ND passed away Thursday, January 2, 2020 at a Minot hospital. Her funeral will be held on Thursday January 9, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Michael Catholic Church in Dunseith. Her wake will be on Wednesday beginning at 5:30 p.m. with a service at 7:00 p.m. in the church. Burial will be at St. Louis Cemetery.
Linda was born February 17, 1950 in Belcourt ND to Jerome and Alice (Plante) LaRocque. She was raised in the Dunseith area and attended Dunseith School. She married Edward Nadeau in 1966 which later ended, they had 3 children. She worked at the NYC Program at the Dunseith Elementary, she also worked at the San Haven Sanatorium. She met Curtis Poitra and they were married October 14, 1978 for 41 years, they raised 6 children. She worked as a Secretary at a Gasification Plant in Beulah, ND. She received certification in Medical Transcription/Coding and worked in Medical Records at IHS hospital in Belcourt for many years then did Medical Coding at Uniband before retiring.
Linda loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed her visits with her sisters before and after their prayer group. She was very artistic. She enjoyed showing her grandchildren how to make various foods and how to paint/draw. She would paint her favorite flowers with pretty pastels. She loved hearing her grandchildren sing and would often have them put on a show. She liked to go rummaging and check out thrift stores. Most of all she loved her sweets, loved to bake and was known for her beautiful wedding cakes. She enjoyed watching her birds every morning with a cup of coffee in hand. Linda loved being outdoors. She enjoyed the warmth of the sun as she worked in her garden. Every summer you would see her picking berries for her pies and desserts. Above all she loved helping others. She was a proud member of her church and a firm believer of her faith. If there was someone in need she would help them as much as she could. She had the biggest heart and kindest soul. Linda believed in the best of everyone.
Linda is survived by her husband Curtis, children; Mistylynn (Shane) Trottier, T.J. (Jill) Poitra, Jamie (Kevin) Schroeder and Skyeann Nadeau, her beloved birds Emerald and Topaz, 24 grandchildren/great grandchildren and a godchild Nicole St. Claire, sisters; Bernice Poitra, Jeanette LaRocque, Jackie LaRocque, Joy (Steve) Myers, Debbie (Earl) LaVallie, Annette (Jim) Lunday, Sherry LaRocque and sister-in-law Shirley LaRocque, brothers; Richard LaRocque, Curtis (Debbie) LaRocque and Brian (April) LaRocque.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, son Terry Nadeau, daughter Lori Nadeau, brothers Sylvester "Duel" LaRocque and Ronald LaRocque, father and mother in-law Alfred and Virginia Poitra.
Arrangements were with Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.
