Obituary

Leverne Bernstein, age 82 of Bottineau, died Saturday, April 6, 2019 at a Bottineau hospital. His funeral will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at 11:00 am at Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.  Visitation will be Wednesday from 1:00 pm until 9:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.

Leverne Bernstein, a son of LeRoy and Selma (Nelson) Bernstein, was born on May 4, 1936 at Bottineau.  He was raised on the family farm near Souris. At the age of 16, he began driving truck, hauling Quonsets from Minneapolis.  He graduated from Bottineau High School in 1954.  He entered the US Army on December 7, 1954.  He served in Japan and Korea before receiving his honorable discharge on November 15, 1956.  On May 9, 1958, he married Jean Grover at Bottineau.  They made their home on a farm northwest of Bottineau where they had a grain farm and raised cattle.   Leverne also enjoyed driving truck.  He hauled grain for area farmers and also hauled oil tanks.  Jean passed away on July 31, 2018.

Leverne passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at a Bottineau hospital.

He is survived by his son, Steven (Penny) Bernstein of Bottineau; grandsons, Justin (Kaleena) Bernstein, Jacob Bernstein and Jackson Bernstein; great grandchildren, Ashtyn and Blayke; brothers, Loren (Loretta) Bernstein of Bottineau, David (Faye) Bernstein of Bottineau and Mark (Joanne) Bernstein of Souris; sister, Caroljoy (Leon) Richard of Bottineau; aunt, Anna Rose Evans of Bottineau and numerous nieces and nephews.

Arrangements were with Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.  Friends may sign the online register book at www.nerofuneralhome.net.
